Oregon folk seem to have much more sense than our Republicants. Perhaps the Oregonians do not worship Mammon so strongly. Down with the dams now! Not 12 years from now!

Save the fish before its too late! ITs about time elected officials look past their vast communities of urban sprawl and realize our natural resources must be protected for the benefit of everyone on EARTH. PROTECT SACRED SIGHTS, DEFEND HUMAN RIGHTS!

An average of 159,000 acre feet of Eel River water is diverted into the East Fork of the Russian River annually. If the CA. politicians really cared about our states fish population they would destroy the Potter Valley dam on the Eel river. Instead they close off our local salmon season, which in turn hurts our local economy. I guess if we donated as much money as the grape growers on the Russian River do to the state legislators campains. Maybe we would have have a thriving fishing industry?

See what the Indian Political Action Committees can buy is a complete foolish wast of money to tear down four dams on the Klamath River. Those dams were built to hold back the flood waters that have happened many times in the past to wipe out the actual down stream tribe locations. this act of foolishness is similar to removing an offending tree branch from over your head by standing under it while cutting it off.
The Klamath River is enjoying a greater Salmon run this year, than it has for many past years. I do not see why our state should pay any money for removal of these dams, I would rather see the money spent on Parks. Corruption is a live and well at Sacramento.

wait until the floods come after the drought. Perhaps the flooding water will wash away the stupid folks that really believe this is the best way to go. I say sure, save the fish and then they can pay the flood damage costs.

instead of forking out millions to some company, all the Californians loosing state funded aid can be given a hammer and mimimmun wage, then sent up the river to cover our share of the cost?

This has nothing to do with flood control, but power and water rights. The farmers beleive they have the right to the water because the govt said so, the natives believe they have the right regulate the waterways becuase it is essential to their survival. The arguement is about one side willing to compromise to the other, but neither one wants to give up what they beleive is their unalianable right to water. The klamath run maybe big this year, but what is that compared too? runs for the past 8 years have been small since hte fish kill that killed over 70,000 salmon in 2002. The runs that Freedom is spouting about need to be compared to the runs BEFORE the dams were built, i guantee they were much larger than the current runs

thank you Steve Barber.....my question has always been "why can't the famers grow a crop that the government doesn't want, and the government can pay them not to grow it" they do it everywhere else....

the dams are not for flood control....and if you lived on the river you would know that.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aquarius

Keep calm and all will be well. You're feeling slightly fraught because there are so many demands on your time, and it won't help if you're trying to juggle some last-minute chores with some fun-filled social events. Get others to lend you a hand, or tell yourself that perfection is not an option right now and that you'll have to scale down your preparations accordingly.
