Get a racially diverse set of friends, watch who starts panicking at work when your boss mentions drug testing, or just plain look for drug use statistics that do breakdowns by ethnicity. Caucasian teens (and native american and eskimo) smoke, drink, and abuse drugs at higher rates than every other ethnicity. Sorry. I know there're all kinds of stereotypes (usually negative) applied to minorities, but caucasian kids party early, and they party HARD. I noticed this even in middle and high school, because I had friends of every available ethnicity: white, black, a few hawaiians, and some hispanic. My white friends, invariably, were the only ones talking about 'shrooms, weed, coke, and getting drunk (and sometimes steroids if they were on the football team). If you'd have a look around the hallways between classes, and you'd only see white guys smoking in the restrooms, and on the occasions when the door would be partway open and swinging closed as you passed, you'd only see groups of white girls in the girls restroom, smoking in a semi-circle. Surely you have some smoker friends, stoner friends, or some friends that like to go get drunk, or even some that do coke or shoot up. Guess what: they started around 14-16. Although every ethnicity has young abusers, it occurs at a much higher rate in caucasians for some reason.

And some are just observations that are noted because they are unique to that group, or because there is an increased tendency in that group for said activities. The rate of caucasian teen drug and alcohol abuse has been dubbed "one of the suburb's best-kept secrets" by sociologists, drug/alcohol abuse centers and the hospitals who have to deal with emergency alcohol poisonings and overdoses of "good, innocent kids". http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/03/16/youth.in... http://www.csdp.org/publicservice/kids.htm http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2001/08200... http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/45/334.h...

There's going to be a segment on Fox News (channel 13) tonight at 10:00 about teen drug use, and who's most at risk...you might want to watch it.

I heard that Brooksville doesn't have emergency trauma unit that is why they take you to Tampa.

Yes, but often the only real 'trauma' unit is the 'whirly gig', the chopper that makes delvery to it's home landing pad.
Choppers are prestigious, handy to have, but expensive to fund, got to pay for the annual costs so they fly missions mostly to pay bills and not often for medical necessities.
Worst part is 'you pay' if the injury is simple, yes 'pay' very big 'bucks'

The truth of the matter was Amanda was not drunk, she was under the influence of oxycotton 80 mg. This entire situation could have been avioded if it wasn't for the carelessness of one drug addicted teenage girl.
