I believe it isway past time to start taking iniative in using better ways to create energy that will leave a better world for our children and grandchildren to live in. I am fully behind having a wind farm and a bio-plant to produce electricity in White County. My two thumbs are up for the people who are doing this and I wish them all the success in their business venture and hope it paves the way for more green companies to invest in the future of greener energy for the future generations of our children.

As a White County resident, I am totally against these giant wind turbines. They are bad for your health. There is now a Wind Turbine Syndrome associated with wind turbines. I know for a fact that this exists after spending hours on the phone being interviewed by a doctor in NY state about my family and our symptoms. The countries like Holland, that first started these turbines are now taking them down and using a new kind of windmill that doesn't have blades. We really as a community need to fight this, especially only ONE MILE away from Brookston, that is too close!

I was intrigued by the comments made by Pebbles26 and after searching numerous sites such as Scopes.com , WebMD.com and Wikipedia it sounds like Pebbles26 has been duped, to say the least. Unless you can provide definitive evidence that this even exists, then you need to come up with a better way to oppose this project. Don't hide behind some alledged "syndrome" and state your real opposition to the windmill project. Thanks to our beloved "Environmentalists" this country is on the verge of an energy crisis that will outdo the 1973 Oil Embargo and I for one am in favor of generating our energy by any means possible. The wind always blows through the prairie so why not use it to our advantage.

I never considered wind as a potential syndrome. Airplane propellors must really be bad news...:-)

Here look up Dr. Nina Pierpont, vibroacoustic disease, windmills and health affects. I have found tons of info out there so you must not have searched very hard at all. Many many years ago it was believed that because we couldn't see x-rays that they couldn't harm us either. Well windmills put off a low frequency vibration that is harmful but our ears can't hear it. The vibration affects other parts of our body like chest cavity and head cavity because of the vibrations. Also airline pilots and personnel are tested for vibroacoustic disease because of these same types of vibrations. Some have been put on permanent disability. So the info is out there.

Low frequency vibration? You mean like the waves in the air when a bird flies past or a tree branch sways in the wind? Maybe like listening to music or swinging in a hammock? Pull the cell phone away from your head and shut off the microwave, we have another vibration to deal with now. It is horrible, deadly, can't smell it, feel it, or see it. It can only be detected by the presence of a whining idiot or a disability request form.
Wind, solar, and nuclear power, along with emerging new battery technology, will keep this nations young men from dying in future desert wars.

Hey PEBBLES, I searched the reputable sources for my information. How about putting up some links for your sources and let the public be the judge of how accurate they are. I believe this Phenomenom exists about as much as Global Warming is caused by Greenhouse gases. I don't disagree that the world is warming up a little but for every Weather Channel and Al Gore wacko out there that says it is a problem, there are just as many who say they are full of crap. So I say to you, if you don't like having the windmills around you then MOVE!!!!!!!!! Go get in your electic car and drive to your house made of straw bails and sing Kum Bay Yah around the campfire and leave us intellingent folks alone who don't get our news for NPR or CNN. I, for one, would greatly welcome one on my property if it was big enough or in the right area.

Here are just 2 links with tons of other links about all of this.

I don't care what you all think of me, I am just trying to warn you all and protect your health. I live a mile away from one turbine and they put another one up at Tri-County HS this year and since then things have seriously gone downhill. I started having seizures out of no where at 34yrs old, my 5 children have been affected too. My Cardiologist had Dr. Pierpont interview me for over 8hrs on the phone! So please don't accuse me of making these things up.

As for moving, that is such an easy thing to do these days isn't it??? Especially when you live in the middle of no where!

As for the Purdue Prof, I don't even know what to say to you. Your comments are so rude I don't even want to send my children to Purdue if that is the kind of education they will be getting!

My posts in no way had been rude in anyway, I was just trying to let everone know that these turbines can affect your health and people should know about this.

I'm very amazed that they do not see this Pebbles...we've been informed, out on Morehouse, the farmer is going to "sandwich" our house between 6 turbines...the first one being almost 1800 ft away from our home. Not only noise decible levels of these from 2500 ft away can be up to 75 decibles..the noise alone to disrupt sleep patterns starts at 45 decibles is what I hear. I have two children living in this home, and I feel I have been slighted. There is hope and help and I'm looking into it, along with a letter to Governor, and Horizon Energy themselves. I don't want to stop Green Energy, I want to protect my family...if these turbines are going to "sandwich" our home, the strobbing, the noise decible level is going to be outstanding. I'm scared to death for the safety of my children. Seizures can come from fracturing of light and flickering, or what they refer to as shadow strobbing can be a trigger of this. I pray for your family as well as my own. God Bless!

I have read your comments and am amazed at how gullible the citizens and politicians are. If wind farms are so good, why is there so much opposition all over the world. The health issues are real but no solid proof unless you have experienced it. The fact is that wind energy is too expensive and ineffecient let alone the environmental impact. Those living near one might choose to move IF they could sell their home. Doesn't anyone wonder why a huge influx of wind energy companys have bombarded our country? Do you think maybe that they want US tax dollars before someone else gets their hand in the pot? If something sounds too good to be true then it usually is.

First of all, I would like to say that anyone who is unaware of the health issues due to low frequency vibration of wind farms must have their head in the sand.

I was wondering why I never see the wind turbines spinning? I have driven past Brookston 15 times in the last nine months and have never seen one turbine spinning? Does anyone know why? Is there no infrastructure to support energy produced? How much is it going to cost to get this energy to Indy/Chgo? Who is going to pay the tab, taxpayers?

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Leo

Perhaps it's the fact that it's Christmas Eve and everyone is busy, but you can't help feeling that you're walking on eggshells around certain people. Their emotions are very close to the surface and could erupt at a moment's notice, perhaps in a storm of tears or a fit of pique. Calm them down and ask if you can do anything to help.
