Why come to Brooklyn? I was stationed in Germany and you have more than enough slums in the former East Germany and a few projects and slums in the former West Germany although they do a good job of hiding them outside the city centers. We DO or Die in the Bed-Stuy so if you intentions are what I believe they are, I would advise you to stay in Germany.

Obviously half the ppl on here dont know what their talking about.. Actually the brooklyn neighborhoods are being transformed into upscale neighborhoods. Many Manhattan residents are moving from the city to Brooklyn. Bedsty is NOT the Bedsty your use to hearing about on the rap videos. Bedstuy is full of attractions, boutiques, and is on the come up, what was once a black neighborhood, is now a mixed neighborhood. As well as Flatbush, East Flatbush and all the neighborhoods with close access to the city. There are new structures/condos being built all over.. Brooklyn will be the place to be.. so the slum your looking for.. is not in Brooklyn

Yeah, dream on. LMAO
The biggest new project in Brooklyn is the Atlantic Yards, which will be a 5 billion dollar project built by Forest City Enterprises or Forest City Ratner as they call them in your parts. Mainstream Media especially the NY Times has done a great cover up job. But members of our organization lived on a Forest City property in Chicago, then did some research on this company. Check out these links. Is this what you mean by upscale?? LMAO

In my parts? Sorry sweetie, but I live in Park slope, I have family that live in the East Flatbush section and there are condos being built up all over the neighborhood. Wat was once the biggest projects, Vandeveer Projects is no longer housing. Red hook is an upcoming neighborhood as well. Oh course, the neighorhoods arent going to be built over by tomorrow but, all the slums that this person is looking for is no longer slums, yes there are bad apples everywhere but, I've seen my old neighboorhood transformed for the better. Either the troublemakers have been locked up, left for dead, or they got kicked out the houses/buildings where they use reside at. There is a newly built condo on E55th and Lenox Rd, around the corner from the grandmother's house. There are now 3 white families, that moved into the neighorhood, a howard johnson hotel opened up on Utica and Winthrop st a cpl years ago and More and more Condos/new complexes that are not projects that are being structured. Like the huge Condo on Remsen ave and I believe E51 st.

What section of Brooklyn are you talking about? Brooklyn is big borough, of course the entire borough is not being made over. Learn to read in between the lines, I was only talking about the cpl sections that some people said that are slums? Have you been to Bedsty lately, have u been to East Flatbush lately, why dont you visit them and stop reading the so call articles that know so much about them

Your talking about the projects. That could happen in any projects, that doesn't make the whole neighborhood bad. ENY is large and has and has both better and bad areas.

He has a problem with the Forest Whatever Company who are building at Atlantic Yards. I guess some people are being displaced and he thinks this should be of concern to us but if those people aren't making noise, what are people who don't live in that area supposed to do. We'd look foolish lending support to absent protesters. Also, many people who don't live in New York comment on Brooklyn without knowing how really big and diverse the borough is. They talk about Brooklyn like the worst area of NYC and it isn't, it is second to Manhattan and while some of the areas could use work (a lot) others are downright beautiful, if you take awake the lack of space.

Hasn't anybody heard anything at all about the Atlantic Yards project by Forest City? It's supposed to be the largest project EVER in Brooklyn. I think your downtown area.

Check out a site called No Land Grab.
http://www.nolandgrab.org/

They talk about this boondoggle everyday. Nobody has heard about the New Jersey Nets moving to Brooklyn either?

All I know, if I lived in Brooklyn I sure the hell wouldn't want Forest City anywhere near my town. I don't think y'all realize how deadly Black Mold is and how it can spread. That stuff can make the Swine Flu seem like the common cold.

omg when i was walking out the train station at parkside and ocean ave (Flatbush), across the street i saw a man shoot at a store. I ran back in the train station and hid hoping that bullets wouldnt come my way. a few people also ran towards me screaming. Its was crazy. Next day i saw the news and saw that a teenager was killed by the shooter. I was shocked because i was there when it happened. I never experienced somthing like that.

Granted, members of our organization have a grudge against Forest City after living on one of their properties in Chicago. But people outside your downtown area should still be concerned about what's happening. People are getting laid off, ambulance service is being cut and so is public transportation all for the sake of lining the pockets of Forest City for their worthless 5 billion dollar project.

And, if you people keep re-electing people like Schumer and Bloomberg you can bet your tax dollars will also get pissed away on other developers with their worthless projects in YOUR neighborhood. Especially if Markowitz remains your borough president.

And, a lot of people are making noise. Check out "no land grab."

This is exactly my point. Well the RJF person is about a cause be it right or wrong but many of these other people, only know what they've seen on tv in videos and those pictures are extremely inaccurate. If they think Manhattan is great, then they've probably been to a few parts and not all over because it has just as much bad as Brooklyn and just as much good. The big difference would be in terms of entertainment and dining. The four outer boroughs are much more residential and their downtown areas can't compare with that of Manhattan.
