Who is this guy? He sounds like some kind of ignorant fool with absolutely no regard for the laws of this country or human decency. Is he a citizen? Sounds like he could be a "tribal Chieftan"
or some such. He just sounds like an arrogant fool.

This is not an ignorant fool. Guys like him are in business all over the state. It is time for the authorities to make an example of him and others like him.
They get their employees to work for cash. They don't pay any Federal or State taxes, no workers comp. They also cheat on their liability insurance and most of all we taxpayers have to make up the difference. Put this guy in the stoney lonesome and throw away the key. Better yet, give the key to Bubba. He will think differently about cheating all of us.

"Because Kakkar did not pay, attorney David Cook said, a sheriff's deputy collected money from Brookdale Inn bar patrons as they bought drinks on a recent Saturday night. The deputy accumulated about $1,000 over a few evenings"

Outrageous we would pay a sherriff to collect debts. Close it down or not.

This guy is an investment yuk out of SAn Francisco....you should see his track record from the properties he has there. Thought he could get away with it up in the hills...outa site, yeah right. I say lets get the people of SLV to take the place over. I've been at the Brookdale LODGE...not INN for years and the citizens of SLV have the cash guts and pride and talented know how to turn the place around and make a huge profit. 10 bucks says he torched the back apartments.

Why don't we preserve our route home and address the Target traffic problem first

Plus he rented out a bunch of his apartments to the child molestors who you can have the pleasure of viewing on Megans List. They live right behind the public bus stop where the kids have to wait to catch the school bus.

Kind of new this place was in trouble when the credit card system went down one night and we tried to leave and he refused to take the information and give us our card back. Told us to use the ATM (a charge that goes to him) out in the lobby, but he had the card, so we couldn't use the ATM. He put the card on the back bar and walked away leaving us standing there. And because they didn't know when it would come back up, they wouldn't allow us to put anymore on the tab. Just expected us to *sit* there until who knows when. The bar tender finally gave us the card back when the owners back was turned and comped us the one lousy pitcher we had on the tab.

Haven't bought a thing there since.

will be nice to hear the other side of the story.
why is the newspaper so willing to offer the public only one side?
it will be only fair to observe ''''innocent until proven guilty''''' mantra that no body seem to care about this days.

These people do not change the sheets, pillow cases,do not clean the bathrooms, change the toilet paper. They told my brother-in law over the phone that the rates were $85 a night. When he got there they told him the rates were $165 due to the renovations. They went to their rooms, carpets were still old, needed a paint job, room smelled, seem like the rooms was never cleaned. My sister-in law blew her top, told them off. Lucky they found an (rare)American owned hotel.

That place has always been a black hole in the valley, in 24 years of living in the area I never went there on a night out, but back in the '70's the place was the party zone. You could buy anything you wanted in those rental rooms..... I'm pretty sure that's been the story every decade since the place was built. Does this owner pay his taxes? Maybe the fire dept. should just protect the perimeter the next time the place catches on fire and let the place burn down and then cancel the owners insurance.I wonder how many rodents it would kill??!!

What an igonrant thing to say lancehole. The lodge was never this bad when the Giberts owned it. I wish they never sold it. Sanjiv Kakkar has been arrested for cheating his employees, child molesters were given a safe heaven so Mr.Kakkar could make a dime and now a man has died by falling in a hole at the place. Kakkar also didn't pay his hotel tax you know, money that goes back into the community. That man who died was my friend Robin Carlson. I used to come to the lodge for years I have seen it all so I know what I am saying i grew up here man.I have never seen anything like this crap. No the locals aren't going to take this lodge over. A new owner/owners need to come and and save it from the Kakkars. My friend is dead because this man refused to obey the law and put the publics safety at risk . I can't wait to hear the statement from Sanjiv "Oh,its all been a misunderstanding" Come on santa Cruz County lets end this nightmare and get this guy out of here before someone else gets hurt.

Glad you brought that up. What with the disappearences of children and all in SLV. What is your problem? Ex cons need housing. Why don't you think so? That's why we have "Megan's Law" so we're informed where they're living. Why aren't you complaning about the drunk drivers who "could" plow into that very bus stop? Or the children who right now ARE being abused and could very well become abusers as adults? Just asking.

I refused to put my child on the school bus because he was going to have to walk the child molester gauntlet(the lodge)to get home from the bus stop. I have heard of ex cons, but have you ever heard of an ex friggen child molester?
