It is a closed primary in that you can choose only one balllot, Issue only, Republican, Democrat, et al.

You can change your party affiliation at the polls or on your absentee ballot request form. You may be challanged but probably not if you switch partys. On your registration form there is no party affiliation to attest to or change.

The "Party affiliation" is determined based on last primary ballot one votes.

You can circulate a petition for the independent but not run as an independent if you voted that spring as a party member. Some have tried but to my knowledge have always lost when challenged in common pleas court or with the Sec. of State.
