Oklahoma Voter-"This is a new editorial from www.bubbaworld.com ."

Bubbaworld?
Are you kidding? THIS is supposed to be someone we take seriously in discussion of justice and court cases? This is the sort of dope Oklahomans have to spend their lives convincing people they're NOT like. That he's got a link to an obscenely stupid website spreading lies about smoking, that he's absolutely beyond obsessed with sex, and that he plays up this "good ole boy" act while spinning it into "if you're a good ole boy, you have to believe this far right political agenda, too!" which THIS good ole boy rejects.

Darren, good buddy, are you from McCurtain County? Or, are you a relative of John Tucker? How do you know that this man has not molested every child he has contact with? Rapists belong in jail. Children belong in healthy homes.

If you hurry you might be able to grab that da's job, they elected the last one with ideas like yours, and they might just do it again. Women haters are safe in McCurtain County along with dirty old men.

Congratulations on being the first person that I know to speak up for a rapist, oh, besides the courts in McCurtain County, Oklahoma that is.

Stupified--"Darren, good buddy, are you from McCurtain County?"

Payne.

"Or, are you a relative of John Tucker?"

Heavens, no.

"How do you know that this man has not molested every child he has contact with?"

How do you know I haven't? How do I know you haven't?

That doesn't cut it IN COURT. We can only go on what we know, and we do not know enough to assume he'll molest any child he gets near.

"Rapists belong in jail. Children belong in healthy homes."

That's all great cliches, but...the facts are that bringing up THIS PARTICULAR case wouldn't have accomplished anything of value and would have caused a lot of harm to the kids.

"If you hurry you might be able to grab that da's job, they elected the last one with ideas like yours,"

You mean, ideas about justice instead of just railroading someone based upon emotions stirred up by a newspaper story and the internet and a bunch of people who never heard 2 seconds of the testimony in this case and some idiotic redneck blog?
It sounds to me like you don't need to have another da, you have one who is doing his job and not letting cases get decided by mob rule.

"and they might just do it again."

We've been given no good reason not to think so.

"Women haters are safe in McCurtain County along with dirty old men."

Oh, baloney. Again, that's just hotheaded overreaction to one story. Meanwhile, how many rapists HAVE gone to jail in that county? The last year I can find stats for shows 13 reported rapes in that county in one year...if it's "safe" for them there, I'd think there'd be a great deal more.
And, AGAIN, if this guy's out to rape everyone, if he's a serious threat to women, how can we be over 10 years AFTER this alleged crime and he hasn't raped anyone else or molested anyone else, that we know of?

"Congratulations on being the first person that I know to speak up for a rapist,"

LIE! I absolutely did NOT speak up for him and I very highly resent the LIE that I did. I spoke up for common sense and justice, for going according to the law and not mob rule. If you ever get arrested (and before someone jumps on that...no, I haven't) you'll be darn glad that they have a justice system and laws and courts instead of just taking someone accused of a crime and hanging them in the back parking lot before lunch. That's what this nation is founded on.

"oh, besides the courts in McCurtain County, Oklahoma that is."

Which is also totally untrue. They haven't spoken up for him, they haven't said a thing about him that's positive, all they've done is what the law says, and what's best for the kids. Should they violate the constitution? Should they NOT care about what's best for the kids? THAT is where my main concern is.

Hey, Darren! Have you read this whole thread, or did you just jump to the top of page 2?

Here is the story that started the whole discussion:

http://www.newsok.com/xml/rss/1868461/

I am a fan of Bubbaworlds. He brings many things to light we may never hear about. He investigates thuroughly before he puts anything in writing and signs his name to it. I have participated in "right wing" forums with him and know him to be a strict by the law person.

My heart breaks for this young mother. There is no bond stronger than that of a mother with her first born son. There are a lot of members of the male gender sitting in prison for having sexual relationships with 14 year old girls. There are 16-18 year old males who will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of their lives for the same thing.

Why are there laws for some and not for others? Why did this Tucker character get rewarded with custody of a child, and on top of it child support payments from this baby's mother who earns 1/4 of what Tucker does.

Because she lives in a trailer? I live in a trailer. Some are quite nice. I checked ODCR and Tucker lists his address as a post office box.

And in case you did skip page one....I live in LeFlore County. I do not know why the tag under my name says various places around the country.

Why do you automatically assume the father is a pedofile? A rapist and a pedofile are not the same thing. But I would expect ignorant people to understand. Yes, you who drink and drive, you who does drugs. You who are condeming without knowing. I feel sorry for you. The child will be better off with the father.

Any member of the male gender who has a sexual relationship with a child is a rapist and a pedophile. Why would you want to put a child in the care of either, Ana?

I am sure I will catch flack for this one, but there are always 3 sides to every story and if charges were never filed on him, has anyone thought to ask WHY NOT?

Has anyone thought to ask, why would a judge take a child from a mother and give to a father?

You are right, there is something wrong with this picture and it is WHY WERE CHARGES NOT FILED IF HE RAPED HER and WHY WAS CUSTODY TAKEN FROM THE MOTHER IF SHE IS A GOOD MOTHER?????

This judge should be removed from the bench! The District Attorney should be removed from office. Both individuals should be held accountable for putting this child in harms way.

The citizens of McCurtain County should remember this event when they cast their votes in the upcoming election.

Our justice system is falling apart.

no bobbie i know for certain there would be no way I could put a child whether they were born of that or not in a situation like that. as i stated above it could be generational. if that's the case then now not only do we have a rapist but a man that is very capable of raping his own CHILDREN!!!!
I must retract, Anna. I meant that comment to Ima. I apologize to you.

Did you read the original story, Penny? Maybe not. It was in the Daily Oklahoman. The link to it is posted at least twice on this thread. WHY WERE CHARGES NOT FILED is something a lot of people are asking. WHY WAS CUSTODY TAKEN FROM THE MOTHER.......... Judge DeBerry said because she lives in a trailer and is a low income earner...Yet Tucker earns four times as much and lists his address as a post office box...and the judge ordered Melonie to pay $150 a month in child support.(&%$#@*&)

You would have to ask DA Virginia Sanders why charges were not filed. Maybe you can get a satisfactory answer before 7pm Tuesday. She is hoping to be re elected.

It just proves my point that people back there are just plain stupid. The bad part the most idiotic ones are the ones with power. Why would you give a child to a rapist. What in the way this man thinking. I mean look what kind of a total moron that is sitting in such a position of power. What a pity you can't even feel safe when justice is supposed to be served. The judge and the rapist should be thrown ender the jail!!!

I can answer some of your questions since I am closer to the this subject than anyone else here, and I am the grandmother involved. Mr. Tucker lives on his mothers property, has never been married, and has never personally taken care of the children. The little boy has always stayed with her, not him, when he is there. Until the court order, he had never aknowledged the little girl at all. Neither had Tucker's mother. They couldn't even remember her name. This is a vendetta because of all the publicity. They are showing Melonie what they are capable of doing to scare her. The DA will not discuss the case. They say they are done with it. The Judge hangs up on any of the family.

I can honestly say that at least in ONE instance in Chattanooga, a father who molested his 13 year old
daughter for four years went to prison, but only for
8 years.

Here is the stupid part...if she had been 12 when he started that, he would have gone for 30 years!

My prayers are with everyone involved and that judge should be disbarred etc.etc.

Thank you for the input, JGlo. I am wondering if the chips fell the way they did because Tucker is a local boy and Melonie has moved out of state. I am praying when he tries this stuff in Mississipi things will be different.

I believe this happens much to often. The Judge, should be taken off the bench as other Judges in the State, who are of the idea that women just exist, and that children should do as they are told. He has no concern for the child, who should of been his first concern. Rapist, get way with it, child molesters get away with it, wife beaters get away with it and Judges, should be held to a higher standard, with sentencing to be uniform throughtout the state to keep Judges, believeing they are God, doing what ever they want. Judges whould face fines or jail themselves for their unjust orders.
Where is the Child Welfare people in all of this--they have been taking peoples children away for several years now, some unjustly, putting them in foster care or to be adopted out without the concern of the children at heart. Many children taken when they should not of been. Then you have cases such as this, with no envolment from child welfare.

DA Sanders is facing 2 opponents in the primary election Tuesday. She will have to get more than 50% of the votes to avoid a run off. I have heard there has been a smear campaign started against her. And I also learned that she has never been elected to that office. 4 years ago Governor Keating appointed her to replace the DA that resigned (Hamilton?) and because no one had filed to run against Hamilton(?) that year, Ms Sanders somehow automatically served the next 4 years that would have been Hamiltons. Seems to me there should have been some kind of special election under those circumstances.

This is Ms Sanders updated campaign statement.

I just married a man (a wonderful man and amazing father) who went to jail for child molestation. When he was 22, he met a young girl of 15 who presented herself to him at a party and told him she was 18. He believed her. They drank that night, had sex and you got it...she became pregnant. She told him she was 15 when she told him she was pregnant. He was scared and offered to marry her. The courts found out and put him in jail. They married when he got out and guess what...soon after she delivered their baby girl, she slept with another man, divorced him and he fought for custody of his daughter. He is now a convicted child molester and he has to live with that for the rest of his life. He has had custody of his daughter who is now 14 and tries to overcome people like you who judge every "child molester" that the court chooses to label that way. Shame on all of you for judging men like my husband. When it comes to the court system, you just never know the truth. Never.
