Too bad these people laughed at the neighbors when their pit attacked the dogs. They simply closed the door in their faces when they were told that their beloved pet had to be put to sleep because of their pit. Carma

Any dog is capable of doing this, not just a pitbull. I have friends that have pit bulls and never one time did it rip me or my kids off. It is all how you raise an animal, not just the breed Get a clue people
It's not about the breed of animal. You cannot trust even the mildest mannered dog around very young children. They tend to get into the dogs face and toddlers esp. get off balance and often fall onto or into the dog. It's a dog's natural defense to snap when they feel threatened or are injured. My very young daughter leaned over to give our small dog a kiss and he bit her in the face. He had never shown any sign of being threatened by her. As a matter of fact, he slept at the foot of her bed up to that day. I got rid of the dog immediately. It was not worth the chance of having my daughter scarred for life. You can't blame the dog...it's the owner who is responsible.

To add to my prior post...yes, I blame myself. I should not have trusted an animal with my daughter's safety even though it was a beloved pet. It's a hard lesson learned.

I think three are people whoare good and responsibile pitbull owners. They love their dog and train it well. They pay attention and even if they don't know they are doing it - they are watching.

But to say a pitbull is like any other dog is not quite true. Most other breeds of dogs do not have locking jaws. Most of the dogs will bite once and run away - pitbulls don't.

That is the difference. ANY dogs can harm a child if you fail to supervise them. Every pet owner needs to be vigilant when it comes to their animal and other people be it family or friends.
