The problem with dollar coins is not the lack of demand, its the lack of supply at retal stores and restuants where people get most of their change. The only way to get a large number of dollar coins is a lengthy bank visit. The bank visit is long because the teller has leave their station to go to the vault to get the coins because they are not stocked in the cash drawer with the teller.
