The no child left behind act was taken out of 10 states today. Too bad Arkansas was not one of them.

They need to take it out of all states. I hope Obama make it happen that way the teachers can teach our children. The way they did in old days.

Too much emphasis on "technology" and "creative thinking" before the basics are taught. Nothing wrong with using technology or being able to think or reason things out, but children need the basics taught before this other material is used. Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.

technology and creative thinking are just as important as the basics.. reading, writing and arithmetic are part of common core - a new thing across the U.S.

better teachers and no more good ole boy systems and the schools will do better. small communities like brinkley have school boards that are hurting the school. It is what it is.

How is the school board hurting the system? What decisions are being made to hinder the students learning?

It is more like the AR State Department of Education forcing so many rules and so much paperwork on the teachers that they no longer have time to prepare for the classes they teach.

Plus, not being able to discipline without fear of repercussion is a bad thing. When a child is a disturbance in the classroom no one can learn. It is very distracting to have to stop instruction time to correct the one violating the rules.

Adults that are responsible for the students' wellbeing do not all support the educational system. Talking badly about teachers, aides, principals, and superintendents in front of children does not teach any respect of authority.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Taurus

Be careful if you're supposed to be saving money, because it's likely to fly through your fingers in no time at all today. You're open to all sorts of delicious impulses now, such as splashing out your hard- earned cash on little treats or big purchases. Indulgence is the key here, and you'll also want to push the boat out if you're going to a restaurant for a meal. You'll work your way through the menu, regardless of the cost.
