Last fall Thomas said his law suit against the Leader Press would probably come up after the first of the year. Have seen nothing in the papers regarding it. Thomas, what's the hold up ? No case ?

I was kind of wondering this myself. The last I read was that it was supposed to be going to court in March or April.

It wouldn't surprise me if it never came to trial. Has been in the mill too long.

Why was he suing the Cove Leader Press?
|

Best of my recollection it is for slander, deformation of character or telling lies. Anyway it had something to do with effecting Thomas's character. For whatever reason the people at the Leader Press have had it. Sorry bunch of so and so's according to Thomas.

I recall on these threads where he was going to sue someone on here too.

1 I think that it was the blogger that reported him claiming two homestead exemptions that he threatened to sue. He claimed one in Travis County and one in Coryell. Of course it wasn't his fault , The tax office screwed up. We will never know how many years this took place. |

1 It just could be that his attorney doesn't want to go to trial sensing that he isn't litigating a winnable case. He, the attorney, did the same thing to me about 2 1/2 years ago. He filed a personal injury claim against my automobile insurance policy for an alleged victim. I had given a detailed statement to the PD and the general response was, No harm, no foul. I gave my insurance adjuster a sworn statement recalling the event in question. When the adjuster asked the attorney's office to make the claimant available for a statement and for copies of any record of treatment there was no response. Nothing! The insurance company closed the file only about a year later to receive a notice that the claim was being reactivated. Same thing - no statement from the claimant, no records of any treatment. They closed the file again and told me that they would not reopen it - any statement of events from the claimant after over two years would be highly suspect for accuracy. |

2 It is odd that he did not notice the exemption on his Travis County tax statement. He had lived in Copperas Cove several years before this came to light. Guess if I was saving money on my taxes I wouldn't complain either. It was a total surprise to him according to the blog at that time. |

2 I recall Thomas really reading someone the riot act because they were accusing him of cheating on his taxes. As you mention he had lived here a number of years and I bet he did not offer to pay the back taxes that he saved by claiming the exemption on the house in Austin. |

2 As for the law suit we'll be asking for a court date the minute the State Ethics Committee rules on Larry Hauk's latest stall. As a matter of public record we had to ask the court in Gatesville to force disclosure from the LP that they were a year late in giving us. Dec. 2 2008. Should have been disclosed Dec of 2007. However, there is no since in trying to confuse some folks with the facts. We will have our day in court, regardless of the constant stalling tactics of Larry Hauk and the Liberal Press. |

2 "?" Will you be waiting or not? LOL! Probably so. A lot of you wait on hearing other people's business. Of course most of you on this blog are totally concerned with the name of who says something or does something rather than the merit of what was actually said or done. Honest and compassionate men the caliber of Mark Petterson and Ray Clayton are not to be believed or trusted, but drunks who show a greater love for booze than they do the safety of our kids are OK. The Bill Thomas's are to be accused of cheating on taxes and violating election law regardless of any evidence simply because he supports the city council. A man who publicly attacks another veteran's patriotism because of his demonstrated esteem for a certain President is elected to office to help govern the city. Hmmmmmm. |

1 You will have to admit, it sounds fishy when one has 2 different homesteads on the tax rolls. Also sounds fishy when you state that one can choose on a whim which place to vote in when you have 2 houses. For some reason I thought that one has to choose a permanent address and that is where one would vote. I am all for voter identification cards which equals one vote per person. Maybe I am wrong? |

1 I thought it sounded fishy when it first surfaced on this blog. He had lived in Copperas Cove more than one year when this was discovered. I always thought you had to vote in the County in which you reside but maybe there's an exception for him. Any thing that comes up it is always in favor of BT. Sounds like a lot of BS to me. |
