20 October 2009 The owner of a former meat plant in Bridgewater plans to pay at least part of the cost to remove 44 tons of rotting kosher bison meat. The Bridgewater city attorney says he has verbally reached a settlement with the lawyer of Ilan Parente. Parente closed his business last January. The meat stayed cold until the end of winter, and by June the smell had spread to the whole town. The smell is now gone, but Parente owes the city more than 25 thousand dollars. The city filed a motion to collect its share of $3,900. A hearing scheduled for next week will be canceled if the agreement is approved. |
