Smart guys. No doors, no seat belts. They were drunk. They were all adults and knew they were taking a chance. So who's fault is it anyway?

I can't believe it took 6 days for this to make the paper. It makes it seem like an accidental death is nothing. Yes, it was another stupid DUI death, but still.....it was someone's loved one. I'm sorry for the family's loss.

The Journey's End is a great place. Not just a bar, it is a restraunt, too, and has good food. A convenience store is also attached.
To place any blame on this establishment you may as well say that any woman who dresses provocatively is to blame if she is sexually assaulted.
I do agree with the timing comment. But are we really surprised?

Condolances to the families.

Eureka is "only miles" away from both crash sites also. Not like it was the same curve in the road?

I think Domino 21 would be more percise.

T.S. five days late and poorly written!

Regardless of the circumstances, my sympathy to the family. Lots of kids this age are partiers, aren't they? It always amazes me that if someone dies while drinking or taking drugs, people say his life and death don't matter. For the family, it hurts just as much as if he died while doing something heroic.
The story is late because the wreck happened in Trinity County. They don't send out news releases to Humboldt County media.

God be with the families involved in this tragedy. Unfortunately, as Fred said above, lots of kids this age are partiers...they drink, they drive, they do stupid things because they think death is years away and that they are invincible. They have not a care in the world, and think nothing of what it will do to their families and friends if something tragic does happen to them. It happens here, and everywhere...take a look at the myspace page of any young adult you know--chances are, the majority of them are going to have stupid "party" photos posted--they think its cool. The ones that dont, unfortunately, are in the minority.
My thoughts and prayers are with these families.

Ruth is such an awsome spot. It is too bad that in this day and age that people will still drive that drunk. We all know that Ruth is a hardcore party spot. I have been going there for 30 plus and it is known that you dont go there for Memorial, Labor day or 4th of July weekends cause all the drunkin fools. Remember the kid who got his eye shot out? Hopefully this will be the only death this year

I was referring to the apparent getting drunk and driving, because we are at the lake culture. Nothing more or less.

Is this the same sonofobitch who tailgated me 3 weeks ago in my little car for 2 miles on winding route 36, swerved around me and sped away, like a crazed madman? I do believe it's the same idiot.

Gawd woman. You are either dense or just plain ignorance. I believe the person was bringing up the point of the name of the bar: "Journey's End". People go there, get drunk, and wind up dying on their journey. Hence the end of their journey, or, their "journey's end."

I hope everyone in Humboldt County is not as ignorant as this dolt.

"The Journey's End" sounds like a great to have lunch and a beer after recreating on Ruth Lake, don't let the actions of a few drunkards run the lifes of responsible citizens, Dec. 5, 1933 the 21st. Amendment repeals Proibition... Over.08 is intoxicated in California...
