Local radio is officially dead. Who needs to hear someone reading a list of school closings in the morning when you can get it online? The traffic report never changes -- I95 and the Merritt are always jammed in the same spots and your GPS will tell you that anyway.

This is too bad. No one likes to see their favorite radio personalities pink slipped and I wish all of them well. I enjoyed listening to them especially when cruising along I-95.

Bridgeport's economy can't support a full-time local talk radio station and that's the unfortunate truth.

Watch for major cutbacks at the Connecticut Post as well.

Ouch!! They keep Reno and let go of Quinn and Smith..how is this a good business decision? Maybe they cut costs but they also just cut a LOT of listeners I'm guessing.

This sucks!!!! Who the hell makes these stupid decisions? I cannot stand Jim Buchanan, he is whiny and depressing. His subject matter's fine but his attitude stinks. I loved listening to Brian Smith at 4. I can't believe they kept Buchanan over Smith and Quinn. COME AHHHN!!!!!

Brian, let us know where you go, ok?

Oh my God. First JLB and now Tim, Brian and David. What's left to listen to? Something happened to Jimmy B. He's so depressed and angry. So I'm glad he'll be on later. I like Tony but it's still not the same as JLB & Tim. WICC is changing and not for the better. Best wishes boys.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I was so happy when they ditched LaBarca, they got some fresh blood, but to get rid of Brian Smith is one of the dumbest moves ever. He brought new life to the station, appealing to a younger crowd. he made my commute home more enjoyable every day. Who wants to end the work day listening to Jim Buchanan? Not me. Back to FM I go.

ok... you are short by four!
Have we forgotten that Ann Rondepierre, who did traffic in the afternoons on WEBE for YEARS, was also let go yesterday.
David Smith - a broadcast veteran and all around nice guy - was dismissed.
Mike Colby - the guy you never really heard on wicc, who used to host Studio 108 on WEBE - was also released from his duties as producer.
On of the 'off air' staff, Michelle who has been there for years was also terminated.
In all, EIGHT members of the staff were released from their duties.
A sad sad day!

Tim Quinn stayed around a very long time doing a very good job. Each year he was rewarded for his outstanding work. Suddenly, his compensation arrangement exceeded budgetary planning and left his employers with no reasonable solution. Godspeed Mr. Quinn. I have enjoyed listening to you for a very long time.

The move with Brian Smith surprises me.He had a sort of jocular presentation that added a contrast to the news and seriousness that Buchanan and David Smith brought to the airways.

Buchanan at 4 may not be a bad idea. I remember Citizen Smith creating all sorts of dialogue with his wacky yet similar content.

I absolutely hate Dennis Miller and will never listen. 91.1 fm will be my choice during that time slot.

WELCOME BACK CLARK HOWARD. Damn good move by WICC management.

Well this was by far the best AM station in the tri-state area if not the country at one time. It had unique programming namely the Smith's, Brian & David. Coming home stuck in traffic will never be the same and I will miss Brian immensly. When it came to sports his show had that special guy The Voice who was by far the best sports guy I ever heard. And of course the concert scene and the Wheel of Outrage, Good luck to all and sucess in the future.

1-David Smith, Boring very average put me to sleep.

2-Rondepierre, traffic report never
really up to date & has a attitude problem.

3-Quinn , made his money and will do okay . Go semi retire in comfort and give some else a chance.

4-Next, get rid of Buchannan he`s a punk tries to be a telephone thuff guy.A real jerk off.

5-Reno show ,Boring as anything I`ve ever heard.Bad,bad, show

7-Howard Clark- Very good show

8-Dennis Miller ,okay but puts me to sleep sometimes too.

Most of use had been let gone at one time or another.

What is going on with WICC? Cumulus should stick to the Georgia area. I will miss Tim Quinn abd Brian Smith. Brian was one of the best that WICC ever had. This station will never be the same again. I know I will be listening to the New York radio station from now on. Best of luck to Tim and Brian.

Cumulus is another scum bag corporation....I have been a listener of WICC since my childhood and am disgusted by the way Cumulus as turned a freindly neighborhood radio station into a boring venue for Facist talk radio.
This is why I switched to WEBE. when Cumulus bought WICC things started headed down the tubes. I hope those people move on to bigger and better things.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Gemini

You have so many things buzzing around inside your head that it's virtually impossible to keep track of them all. Do yourself a favor and try to work through things in their order of priority, otherwise you'll get really irritated with the way they spiral out of control. Don't get your wires crossed, as good news is coming later in the day, with either a financial or a romantic flavor.
