Illegal immigrants in Bridgeport and Jackson County

With the unemployment rate so high in the area, people need the few jobs available. Many businesses are hiring illegal immigrants. The word is out among the Hispanic community to come to the area where laws passed in larger cities don't exist. Beaulieu has hired illegals in their location in Dalton. Notice the influx of Mexicans to the area. It is only a matter of time before the WIC offices, emergency rooms, schools and other entities will overwhelming serve Hispanics. Take it from someone who is from Bridgeport who has seen it happen in a larger city. They work for cash so it looks as if they are poor so the qualify for public aid. I stress to the Mayor, City Councilmen, Zoning Board and other local government groups to start passing laws for zoning, etc. Bridgeport and the area can't afford to subsidize the citizens of another country who did not legally come to this country.

Yes, they may seem to work hard but they depress wages, take jobs from Americans, drive without licenses and insurance, etc. The cons outweigh the pros.

We must also hold businesses accountable for hiring illegals. Show your concern with your wallets and purses and support companies who support American citizens.

The understand they want a better life, but they must do so legally. Americans have a right to know what kind of people are coming to our country. Their plight is not like the Civil Rights movement. It is insulting to every Black American who fought for our right to be equal in our country!

In addition, the gang activity which often follows illegals is something to deal with and the local police are not equipped to handle the level of crime. We often don't know everything about our neighbors so how can we trust a person from another country who has not undergone a background check since they came to the country illegally.

Minority families are overwhelming affected by illegal immigration as well as families in rural areas of European descent. I state the obvious because I care for the people of the area and want to protect them.

It's to late,they have been working here mowing grass, working for Beaulieu, Marcos is in Tennessee now pablo is sick, we have 2 more that live here, I don't know how many works at Beaulieu.

The high poverty rate of illegal aliens will increase the number of people without health care and needing welfare, making health care and welfare reform much more difficult and expensive to address. It is also worth noting that when illegal aliens take jobs from the working poor Americans it also causes more of them to go on welfare.

We already have, they told us to mind our own grits, so what else.

They drink excessively and it is acceptable in their culture to drink and drive. When caught, they are often double the legal limit.

Their culture is one in which Machismo is celebrated. The age of consent is 12-18. Do we really want to expose our children to this culture in addition to what they are already being exposed to?

The most utilized services by illegal immigrants include: Medicaid treatment for the uninsured, food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches, the federal prison and court systems, and federal aid to schools. Illegal immigrants impact the federal budget due to their low education levels and and the costs associated with their U.S. born children (who are eligible to enroll in federal programs).

Call, send letters and e-mail to government officials, local, state and national to tell them to enforce America's immigration laws. They are to serve the American citizens. If not, tell them this is their last term in office and vote them out!
