Helping a family in despair

My family and I are from WV, we are a nice normal family. No one would look at us and think we had in real issues, but that;s just on the outside. You'd never know we were living in a motel , and have been for almost a month. My husband bless his heart just started a new job at a reputable insurance co. So that is on positive, the negative is he has just started training and still has yet to go to a 4 day seminar for new employees. That means it could be nearly a month before he will be paid. We are broke, and are in a bad way, so I decided to start an online donation page for my family. Typically someone else would do that for you, but we are new to the area and don't know anyone and I haven't any family to speak of. We don't have anything, all of our things were left behind. I am asking that people please help me get the word out there. My goal is to raise enough money for a modest 3 bedroom home and enough for 4 beds ,1 table, dishes, sheets , blankets, towels, pots/pans, etc. The beds are for the kids. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would change our lives. Why on earth would you come to Bridgeport Alabama to live? Did you not notice JOBS are scarce here prior to driving all this way??? Unemployment is booming here!

People in this town & surrounding towns are really doing good to fund their own lives, much less donating to support another family, seriously.

I'm not trying to be ugly in any way, but why did you move here without any family, help, etc.? Of all the places in the world? You picked a real POOR place to go... Not to mention, people around here have been scammed, conned and ripped off by online things like this in the past. And so they are naturally distrusting and probably won't donate to your cause.

Maybe you should go to a church, or the human resources in Scottsboro if you need help.
Since you have access to a computer, look them up & give them a call. Or ask your local police department to direct you.

I posted on the AL topix because I read somewhere that Alabama had the least judgmental people in the U.S. I was trying to avoid negativity, and people that would shut me down. I'm only asking if people have the means. I'm not trying to scam ppl. I also wanted to here others stories of how they have over come bad things in their lives. I'm open to positive ideas and info as well.

I'm so sorry that u have hit this bump n the road of ur life. The only encouragement I can give u is, that everything important 2 u is with u. Ur husband n kids everything else can b over comed. Ask the motel if they need help while ur kids r n school. Or if they no of any work close by. Ask the school where ur kids go. They also r usually short handed.

Our story started 2 wks b4 the April 27th tornado. My husband was dianosed with colon cancer, had surgery the 23rd, we got home 3 hours b4 tornado hit n took everything we owned. I feel very blessed cause our whole family was n the basement with us. I looked up n saw my daughter holding my grandson of 9 mth n my granddaughter. It hit me then how very close we came 2 losing them.

My husband nearly died that Saturday from a strep infection he got from his surgery. It went straight 2 his heart n had 2 have open heart surgery May 11th.

There is so much more that has went on this past year. And 2day we will find out if he has stage 4 lung cancer.

Look 2 god for strength n guidance he will give u strength n show u what ur way needs 2 b. And keep digging n that mountain that u r looking @, n it will become just a molehill. I know cause this is how I've had 2 handle what has been our last year.

You must really be stressed about your husband. I am so sorry. That's got to be so hard.

If your story is legit, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time, you should probably check with your LOCAL communiy help agencies, churches, Salvation Army, Red Cross, department of human resources, etc. for help.

Obviously your google search on Bridgeport, AL and surrounding areas sent you a little astray. Don't get me wrong, people here are good hearted, giving, loving people... And if you are FROM here or LIVING here, have family & friends here, people might be a little more willing to donate to your cause.

But to get online & request $3000 from people, to support a cause that cannot be verified, or proven, leaves everyone thinking this is a scam. No offense intended... I'm sure if you were reading this from the other side, you would see what I mean.

I'm not cold hearted, and if you were here locally living in a motel with 5 kids, I might even go out of my way to help you out... But you're not. There are so many ways to scam/cheat someone over the internet now, I'm afraid you will find a lot of people will feel the same way I do about it.

Good idea though, I'll check out your site & see how it goes, I may try it myself! LOL I've got bills to pay too...

Well I can't argue with ya, I'm sure ppl are hesitant. All I can say is fallow your own instinct, you know. I have tried a few local places, I've met some nice ppl, but not much help. One org. was out of funds ,or I'm sure they would have helped. I know there are scams out there, I just kind of thought what's a dollar to 3,000 people. On this same site some people raise 5,000 dollars for a dog to be rescued, so I figured, maybe just maybe. I had to at least try. I do love to here what people are going through in your area. Maybe someone with similar issues with tell about their story and it will move someone to help in your community. I can understand you wanting to take care of your own area first.

I am sorry if this need is true, but doesn't it cost something to set up a website/link that is linked to an account receiving money? That sounds peculiar and suspicious. I would also like to know where you heard that people in Alabama are the least judgemental. That has not been my experience, especially not Bridgeport. This whole thing sounds too strange. If your need is real, may it be met, but if you are scamming, may you be caught.

Can anyone not see a scam here? It was on the NEWS the other day something about a scam like this. Why get on a alabama topix from WV.with a story like this . Not only suspicious it is bullsh>t you can live right here and have a WV. bank account Conputers do wonderful things.

Omg, ok I'm not scamming people. Goodness, I'm not a liar, or a scammer. I'm a real life person, how dare you (scam) assume that I am a liar or I'm not really going through the things I'm going through. It's been hell, I can't cook for my family, I have to listen to people fighting in the middle of the night, washing my dishes in the bath tub, washing clothes in the tub, you don't know. I know there are scammers out there, but really, some scam huh since I haven't made the first dime. I mean at this point I'm just trying to keep myself optimistic. So just beat me while I'm down. I'm a nice person, and I've been taken advantage of myself. And I still help people when I can. Are you such a heartless person that you wouldn't donate one dollar. Or even give words of hope to a person having a hard time. All I have to say is instead of being a scrooge, go around in your own community and see how many families are living this way and help them. To everyone else, I am not asking for money from a community that is struggling so much, all I want is to hear about people going through similar situation.

No one has helped me so calm down. You are right though. Please take it upon yourself to maybe help others in your community. I know one thing I never knew how many people lived in motels until I had to live in one. If you look you'll see families in your area having to live this way. I say if you have the means then make a care package to one of the families. Shampoo, soap, paper plate, plastic cups, food you can put in a microwave, and things of that nature. These are the things we have struggled to get. You don't even know how nice it is, when you feels so down , to know people care.

I too have fallen,MANY times to the dirt,and as the phoenix rising from the ashes,thanks to the guy in the sky have somehow managed to climb back out of the abyss.
Yet thru it all,I have in good and bad times still helped my brother or sister,only to have the proverbial knife stuck in my back,many,times.
When I think about it though,I really did not do it for them,but for the glory of God.HE knows what was in my heart,and even though I too have been scammed,THEY will be the ones who will answer for what THEY did with the blessing that was bestowed upon them.
Bad things happen to good people every day,and YES WE are our Brothers keeper,but one has to get off ones butt first in order to get on ones feet.
So many have champaign taste on a beer budget,I have spent times actually living in my vehicle,this after serving in two branches of the military,yet I CHOSE to perservere and although I am not in great shape,I am able to maintain and do not ask for anything from anyone.
Still IF I were somehow to hit on the lottery,I would be broke real soon,because although I am not a christian,(Most talk the talk and I CHOOSE to stay out of their churches),I would do like the old TV show,"Highway to Heaven" and help as many as I possibly could.Which those that know me can attest to.
That said,with what time I do have left on this craphole,I as in the TV show,would prefer to help and move on,because as the old saying goes," A rolling stone gathers no moss",and the longer you stick around and get to know people,the more you end up wishing you had never met them,and if they begin to cling and expect more than you can give and are never satisfied.

I am sorry to hear that you and your family are struggling. I have been there and so has my own family and it is no fun to wonder where your next bill money will come from or if it will even get paid on time or how are we going to eat next week...

I agree with "curious" from Jasper, although you say you are from West Virginia you must understand that so many people in this area have been scammed so many times over and over again and we are all just very skeptical about making these types of donations. Surely you can understand that making a request as you have online is not the best way to achieve your goals for seeking monetary help. Not only are people in this area skeptical but also most everyone on the net. Scams just happen all the time. Some may say "well what is a dollar and what would it hurt to send a dollar"? Well indeed a dollar is not much at all but it is the fundamental notion that it could be a scam and I dont want to loose even a quarter to some scam. I am not saying that you are trying to scam anyone however, I think that you should try to seek help in another manner if you really need this help. May God bless you and guide you.

my heart goes out to you and your family. if you were in alabama there are some realy good Christian people that would gladley come to your aid. I have never been to WV, so I don't how people react there. If anyone has ever walked in this ladies shoes you feel her stress. If it is a scam she will answer to God for it and if we are enteraining "Angels" unaware we will pay. Pray and follow your heart. God will reward you either way.

Just an observation but....doesn't it cost a bit to live in a motel? Roach trap =$30 a night. x 30 nights a month =$900. Some roach traps give monthly rates, I know. But, I'd think if a person was in the position to be without money and job, they'd cut back where they could and that would mean living in a shelter or YMCA which are usually safer, cleaner and roach free. I just can't donate money to a person I can't even see, esp. one I have doubts about. Sorry. If your story is true, I wish you better times. If you are scamming, try a better story...perhaps you are living at the YMCA and using the computer at the library. sounds easier to believe.

I use to live in Bridgeport years ago . I 'm not surprised what I just read . You people Are the same . 90 percent could miss a few meals , skip a few 6 packs of beer , stay at home cause I see you all keeping the roads hot , I'll send them 5.00 because they are asking and not stealingp
