This is just disgusting! It took a gang to have the @!@# to beat up one kid. Hope they get caught soon. If an adult is involved, hope they get a very long sentence. God bless you Justin. There are more people praying for you than you can imagine.

That's the way the cookie crumbles? You are sad. My honor student wants to go to South, because all her Aunts and her Dad did. Is she going to be safe? We shouldn't have to worry about a kid being safe at or near their school. This is soooooooooo sad! My heart goes out to you Justin.

My heart goes out to this boy and his family. Sad but true, I'm sure we'll be reading a similar article in the near future. Violence in that area isn't surprising, nor is the lack of parental supervision.

im really sorry that the child got hurt and i wouldnt want it to happen to any child but, ms lima you dont live in this area and i do and i dont see a lot of violence and i see kids walking home every day from south high so dont talk about lack of parental supervision unless you are talking about your own area not mine. i hope that who ever did this to this child is cought and judge by there peers, i dont what happen for this to happen to this child but i know that it could been handle better and know one needs to be hurt in the process.

Typical of cowards... only beat up on someone when they can gang up on them. Never one to one. What could this young honor student have possibly done walking home from school to deserve a beating. And I'm wondering if anyone came to help at all? Or did people just watch?

What ever happened to the police patroling the areas near schools? There also used to be safe houses that had signs posted on their windows to let kids know where to go for help. People just don't care until something happens to their family member. These thugs were propably suspended from school for fighting in the first place, just what they wanted, so they could run the streets all day. If a kid is suspended or expelled they shouldn't be allowed outside, police need to step up and check kids out like they used to.

I know this young man he has ALWAYS been respectful to me and seems top be a well rounded young man. It is a shame for this to have happen and if an adult was involved makes it even more disgusting. A grown man has no right to strike a youth/minor none what so ever. I pray for Justin to recover and I pray the police find all who participated and make sure the punishment fits the crime. Gods speed Justin get well quick.

I really feel bad for the boy and his family. It makes me sick to think an adult would be involved in this. The poor kid was just walking home from school. We wonder why people home school their kids, I guess this is a prime example.

First off, I live in the Columbus area. I know the area very well. Unfortunately I've seen a lot "negative" occurances in that area, none that I would want my child to experience. Don't get me wrong, every neighborhood has their troubled spots. My "personal" experiences and obversations are obviously not going to be the same as everyone who resides in this city. I do apologize for offending you, along with anyone else who may disagree with my statement. What matters here is finding the criminals who assaulted this child and let the courts take the appropriate action needed to stop them from doing it to another innocent victim, who could be someone you know.

O.K. Written properly, should have looked like this: I'm really sorry that the child got hurt; and I wouldn't want it to happy to any child. But Ms. Lima, you don't live in this area; and I do; and I don't see a lot of violence. I see kids walking home every day from South High, so don't talk about lack of parental supervision unless you are talking about your own area, not mine. I hope that whoever did this to this child is caught and judged by their peers. I don't know what happened for this to happen to this child; but I know that it could have been handled better, and no one needs to be hurt in the process.
Does anyone have to pass basic English in school anymore? People write like they are texting--no punctuations, no capitalization, incorrect spelling, etc. Albert Einstein could have written a brilliant article, but if he couldn't write it properly; he'd come off sounding like a moron!

I had to take my 16 year old son out of school for him being bullying. We live in the Southwestern City School district. We are very pleased to being enrolled with VCS--Virtual Community School. A very nice program.

English Teacher - No disrespect to you and your knowledge of the English language, it surpasses my knowledge hands down.
Let me say this - what happened to this young man was an act of unrestrained violence, poster hlf doesn't need your english lesson right now. How about a dose of nonjudgemental participation from you.
