Brevard College releases statement on student death

This story has no substance.

Thank you. I would like more details given out to the community. This is our community, so we do deserve to know what happened. The same with the Hogsed man who murdered that boy. What is going on?!

Transylvania County Sheriff David Mahoney released the name of the man killed in an altercation early Saturday morning as Christopher Clark Lien, 26, of Baltimore, Md. Sheriff’s officers arrested Robert Frank Debiase, 24, at a party bonfire at 99 Ivy Lane in the Cathey’s Creek area, where the crime occurred.

I grew up with Chris I would like to know BOOKED...Why do you make such a remark? are you the one that killed him? Does this killer know what hes done to his family and friends back home? and to his best friend Jason? I cant Imagine he does what so ever. We had a memorial service for him at his mother's on Saturday and let me just tell you that was soooo hard. Whoever it is that did this, your sick, you ruined sooo many lives, not just chris's but his mother, father his family, best friend and friends!

Chris was my friend as well i went to brevard with him in 2000 and 2001. and chilled with him in chucktown as well were i still live today. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends and lets all try to remember the good times we all had with him. He was a great person.

i've known chris, who is like my other brother, since i was little. he was my brother jason's best friend. we're still thinking about chris every day. it has been hard to comprehend why someone would do such a horrible thing to a person who did not deserve it. chrissy is right.. the guy that did this is sick. and i believe in a thing called karma.

the boy who was killed ... chris ... he was like a brother to me and i hope that he burns in hell . jason (his best friend) is having a hard time. my hole family is. i hope he suffers just like all of his are.

If you weren't there you can't know what happened! Don't assume anything. It was a tragic accident.

Could it be, and I can not determine because the Full Story link is not working for some strange reason, that the response by BOOKED was that the story contained little information, thus lacked substance. As I said, I can't determine if that is the case since I am unable to read the story in the ACT. However knowing the past history of storys such as this, the ACT is sometimes very lacking in their reporting efforts. The throw out a few factoids and leave much to speculation.

I apologize if I am incorrect as to the content of the ACT story. Regardless, my sympathy for all those who were close to this young man. It is indeed tragic when one so young has their life taken away in any manner.

you really want to know what happened?... self defense. 6 wittnesses also say self defense. there was no malicy intended. i'm not going into detail. It was a tragic ACCIDENT! SELF DEFENSE!

Bobby is a killer. He deserves life in prison, where he can think about what he did. it makes me sick that he is out and about free as can be. I want to know why there is a killer walking around free. Why is he not rotting in jail?

Were you there? Nope! I would love to know who you are... we are all sorry for what happened, but put yourself in the situation...

Let's get one thing straight... there was NO murder! There was an extremely tragic and unfortunate accident. There were no intentions of any harm, foul, or malice. And who are you, I am curious to know because, why is it that EVERYBODY wants to know everybody's business?!? I mean seriously would you really want other people that you did not know in your business all the time? My guess is probably not... You read the paper, that is the only information that you need to know. I am sorry if I am sounding rude, I just really don't understand why it is neccessary to know each and every detail of a horrible accident that does not concern or involve you... Some things about Brevard will NEVER change... something happens and the entire town along with the rest of the world knows about it in 5 minutes!!! Stop the insanity!!! Why is it so important that you be informed? I would really love to read your response to my questions.

Please understand Robert side as well. He feared while being attacked. The two of them fell into a fire, one was cut and the other faces the scrutiny. He never intended for this to happen. I know Robert, and I know he is a better man than what these bias opinions are leading people to believe. May god touch us all.

Absolutly, Robert is one of the biggest hearted people on the planet. I know he has even been assisting childen at the make a wish foundation and would feel ashamed and hurt if he read the comments above. What an unfortunate set of circumstances. Our prayers are with him.

he is a murderer and he can never change that. if he really a "better man" then why is he bragging about the murder on his myspace? in my eyes he should go to hell and he deserves life in jail.

i need to rephrase that chris was like a brother to me and i hope that the ROBERT guy burns in hell

unfortunate that this story is not available to give all the details to us. i would like to know if both of the persons involved in the fight had weapons. did the two argue over a girl. was there a lot of drinking involved (were both parties inebriated). had the two had a prior beef with eaach other that caused this to escalate to the degree that it did. sounds like plenty of witnesses but if alcohol was innvolved doubt very much credible testimony can be found. probably a lot of conflicting statements that police will have to sort out. if only the one party had a weapon, the knife and the other was unarmed, then self-defense is not really a legitimate claim. we do not know enough to make a qualified comment really.

in whatever case, this is indeed a terrible tragedy and both of the lives of these young men are forever ruined.
