We saw that we were getting nowhere with Brattleboro's ER, but our car had broken down, and the ambulances had adamantly refused to take me to Keene. But a good friend knew of our suffering and drove us to the Cheshire ER. There eveybody was polite, and the doctor spent a lot of time with me. He gave me some anti-spasm medicine and told me to see a neurologist soon. The medication helped me feel better, and I thought I was going to be fine until I got to the neurologist. Unfortunately, one of the medications he prescribed went into reverse effect in my body, and I was sicker and in more pain than ever. Soon I ended up back at--Guess where? BMH ER!

In my next visit to our Brattleboro ER, a middle-aged RN demoralized me and invalidated my pleas for help by distorting my words to her higher-up so that I looked stupid and crazy and I was again sent home without tests or help.

Right here in civilized little Vermont, you can get stuck with a PA or an NP in an emergency. And they often want to get rid of you, to lighten their work load.

They are always under the direct supervision of a doctor... How in the hell in their right mind, who would want to lighten their work load making that kind of money they do in a ER. Its a gold mine in there. It is like being in a casino and winning all the time, who would leave winning those big buck? Give um another MRI and they will leave?

In my last "shove-off" visit to the ER, a Nurse Practitioner spitefully pushed down on my spasming arm and leg and squeezed the the arm that was causing me terrible pain, notwithstanding my pleas for mercy. Then she told me to go home and keep taking the medication that I had had an very bad reaction to, that had made me sicker! That was the last time I was going to allow myself to get pushed out of the ER.

I have seen it . I have experienced it. I believe you. Some misguided people do not want to entertain that this mistreatment is happening .It proably makes them feel scared and uncomfortable that a situation could arise in which they themselves or their loved ones would be vulnerable. It is happening , unless people speak up it will continue, and it could happen to anyone. It is happening everywhere .Not just one hospitable, or just one medical office, people have got to speak up. The medical profession know who in their ranks are unprofessional ,uncaring , and incompetent , they close ranks and the patients and their families suffer . It is getting worse. I applaude you , you should not be insulted , because you are trying to inform the public of you experiences.

There are even more details that I can't remember all that clearly yet. I was too sick to catch the names of the abusive employees; plus, I noticed that they wore their ID tags in an evasive sort of way, or not having their last names on their tags. When I am better, I intend to go through my chart with a microscope! Knowing them, they will probably tell me I'm not allowed to see my records, but I know about the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.

Why are you so incensed about another person's experience? How dare you call them a faker ? You are victimizing the victim again, that is what the abusers expect ..... Who will believe these people ? At A HOSPITAL ! I believe her. Most patients are afraid to speak out , particularly in a small town . Go on another thread and outspeak the nuketards , leave this lady alone. You apparently have had wonderful, caring hopspital experiences, good for you. Other people have not been so fortunate ,some people have been traumatized, to be ill, vulnerable and to be marginalized as though you are in the way of their next cup of coffe is below contempt. Sorry , these perpertrators DESERVE to be outted. If they abuse one patient , you can believe they will abuse another ,you or your loved ones may be next. It will not matter what status in life you come from they are equal opportunity abusers . If speaking out prevents one other sick person from being abused then good for her . Go stand on a bridge. You (not her )
