Among Many Good Medical Workers, A Few Abusers Lurk

In suffering a serious and painful illness recently, I have had to take a few ambulance rides. Most of the Paramedics and Emt's I came into contact with were excellnt. On the last ride, however,a Paramedic disdained me. She grabbed and squeezed my spasmic arm that was causing me horrific pain, though I had clearly asked her not to. Her face bore an expression of malice as she began the process of forcing an IV into that arm, even though there was no reason not to put the IV in my other arm. But at the last minute, she refrained. She must have remembered that ther are Consent Laws.

At the BMH ER, I got my usual welcome as the nutjob waste-of-space that they assumed I was. They would have shoved me out as usual, but my husband showed up and refused to take me home. He wasn't dumping me (like they thought) but trying to force the hospital to investigate what was wrong with me and treat me. He was exhausted from trying to help me every time I screamed in agony. I could no longer eat or move around even to go to the bathroom.

There is a lot more of my story to tell, but I will have to tell it in pieces, as my illness leaves me exhausted most of the time. I will try to continue this tomorrow.

This got to be one of those libertarian things...my religion is I hate modernity and centralized authority and order.

When I first collapsed, I was in an office where a lot of very educated adults worked. They immediately called an ambulance and said that my collapse was "witnessed" so that I would be taken seriously by the system. I was in a state of terrible anxiety because I had never before experienced spasms where parts of your body moved involuntarily on you. Some of my breath was taken away and it was very difficult to breathe. Plus ther was all this pain.

The Rescue staff was excellent, soothing me and doing all that they could for me. I was also treated well in the E.R. because my collapse was witnessed by educated professionals.
However, after doing some tests and finding nothing wrong, The doctor concluded that this must be anxiety.He ordered some tranquilizers and sent me home. I decided to agree, hoping that it really was anxiety so that I could take care of it myself with deep breathing and meditation.

I will tell the rest of my story as soon as I can.

Can a toe nail feel pain that has been disconnected from the body by a nail clipper...terrible debilitating pain?

Man Tasered, arrested at hospital

BRATTLEBORO — Police Tasered and later arrested a 51-year-old man after a confrontation at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Friday night, according to a news release from Vermont State Police.
Police were at the hospital about 10:30 p.m. on an unrelated matter when hospital security alerted them to Howard Hoye, 51, of Guilford, Vt., a hospital visitor who police say was not following“visitor regulations.”
When they confronted Hoye, he became disorderly and police stunned him, according to the release. The release says he was given medical treatment by police on scene and refused to be examined by hospital staff.
Hoye was then taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct. He has a court date of Feb. 21.

I felt better and had myself convinced that the whole thing was just anxiety. A couple of days later, I went to Walmart. At first I felt very cheerful, shopping and getting ready for the holidays. Unfortunately the painful spasms came back. I managed to make it to a bench to sit on before I fell. My leg was spasming up and I did not feel that I could get up again and walk without falling. My husband found me and asked me if I thought I could make it to the car, and I had to tell him no. He called an ambulance. It was from Winchester, and I was sure that they would take me to Cheshire Hospital! But they would not. At least the paramedic and EMT were good to me.

At Brattleboro Memorial, I was in so much pain that I was panicked. Someone shoved a tranquilizer into my mouth. I tried to relax while I waited for more tests to be done to try to find out what was wrong with me. But soon a nurse came and told me that I had to go home. Emergency rooms are not for laying around in, she explained.She unsuccessfully tried to stifle a giggle of ridicule as she led me out the door. Fortunately my leg spasm had stopped and I was able to walk out to the car where my husband awaited me.

Ah shit, now you got me crying...

The resident paranoid nut job rides again & you've gotten much worse. Go check yourself into the retreat for Christ sake. Did you run out of female names for alts which you routinely misspelled?

I will continue this as soon as I am able. My purpose is to encourage others to speak up when they are maltreated. Nobody can stop me from talking about what happened.

Why don't you got the guts to directly confront the hosital with your concerns...then report to us what happened. Just bitching about it here get us nowhere.
