So the Hersey company is into slave labor along with the state department.

Hundreds of foreign students on a State Department cultural exchange visa program walked off their factory jobs in protest on Wednesday.

The J-1 visa program brings foreign students to the country to work for two months and learn English, and was designed in part to fill seasonal tourism jobs at resorts and seaside towns. The 400 students employed at a Pennsylvania factory that makes Hershey's candies told The New York Times that even though they make $8.35 an hour, their rent and program fees are deducted from their paychecks, leaving them with less money than they spent to get the visas and travel to the country in the first place.

Some of the students were assigned night shifts, and said they were pressured to work faster and faster on the factory lines...

Hershey ain't what is once was, stock price was higher in 2005 than now, all artificial ingredients...it taste like garbage and it is a garbage company...

Last I heard they were dying to produce and manufactures overseas

-You must have missed the report today that candy makers are increasing quarterly profits. That's really saying something in today's economy. Hershey is an American company so I mentioned them...But Champlain Chocolates would be another if you don't like Hershey.

Hershey's: no more captive workers...

The Obama administration should be ashamed of themselves for not picking this up...

See how many American workers they displaced for slave labor.

Right, they stole 400 jobs from Americans and gave the jobs to foreign slave teenagers, we don't know how deep this goes at other companies with the foreign exchange...

"In a way, they did. About 400 foreign students were put to work lifting heavy boxes and packing Reese’s candies, Kit-Kats and Almond Joys on a fast-moving production line, many of them on a night shift."

What a Obnama adminitration shame for letting this go on...

I am voting for Perry, Obama's policies and behaviors hurts me terribly. I hate Perry, but I would expect that behavior from, and and thus I won't get hurt from him like my beloved Obama....

Obama's behavior just pains the hell out of me for the last year and he won't stop hurting me...

“It is just work, work faster, work.

I am indignant with these foreign teenage slave workers...they want to be treated better than the Americans.

There is no cultural exchange, none, none,” said Zhao Huijiao, a 20-year-old undergraduate in international relations from Dalian, China.“It is just work, work faster, work.”

But in recent years, the program has drawn complaints from students about low wages and unexpectedly difficult work conditions. It appears, however, that the walkout at the Palmyra plant is the first time that foreign students have engaged in a strike to protest their employment.

We sound like China...

The arrangements that brought the foreign students to work at the Eastern Distribution Center III, a vast warehouse in a trim industrial park near Hershey, the American chocolate capital, involved layers of contractors.

WalMart is doing that!

At one of the sites where she worked, she said, cameras were trained on her, and supervisors told her that if she did not want to maintain the pace of work, she should leave.

There is much good to see in this country. And no one should want to sugar coat the tougher side of life here either, including long shifts at backbreaking jobs for low pay that is familiar to American workers. But no workers should have to put up with bullying from bosses or threats of firing (or in this case deportation) if they want to organize. That sort of “cultural experience” should shame us all.

What a Obama administration's shame it is for letting this go on. It is a human "oil well blowout" in the Gulf of Mexico.

They didn't have to come and they don't have to stay. And they don't have to live in the company housing. They can get together and live off campus if they want and if they think they can do it cheaper. All they are doing is killing the prospects for the students who would jump at a chance to come to the US and work for Hersey.

I would be willing to bet that it is a very small group within the students who are disenchanted.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
