NO MORE NAZI SYMBOLS FOR USMC "Commandant of the United States Marine Corps James Amos issues official apology, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta pledges to launch investigation just one day after MRFF reveals photos to the international press and sends letter: http://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/2012/... demanding immediate investigation of Marines displaying this notorious, blood-stained symbol MRFF FEATURED BY NEW YORK TIMES Panetta Orders 'SS' Photo Investigated Friday, February 10, 2012 Selected Article Excerpts: Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told the Marine Corps on Friday to re-investigate and take appropriate action against the Marine snipers who posed with a logo resembling a notorious Nazi symbol. An initial Marine investigation into the matter concluded that the troops would not be disciplined because there was no malicious intent. The Marines mistakenly believed the "SS" in the shape of white lightning bolts on the blue flag were a nod to sniper scouts — not members of Adolf Hitler's special unit that murdered millions of Jews, Catholics, gypsies and others, said Maj. Gabrielle Chapin, a spokeswoman at Camp Pendleton, Calif. But the furor over the photo — which was taken in September 2010 in Afghanistan — grew as Jewish leaders and others questioned whether it was an innocent mistake. Pentagon press secretary George Little said that racist and anti-Semitic symbols have no place alongside U.S. service members. And in a statement released Friday, Marine Corps Commandant James Amos ordered individual instruction for the sniper and reconnaissance Marines about the prohibitions against inappropriate symbols. "I want to be clear that the Marine Corps unequivocally does not condone the use of any such symbols to represent our units or Marines," Amos said. "On behalf of the Marine Corps and all Marines, I apologize to all offended by this regrettable incident." Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M., said the scandals hurt U.S. military missions. His organization wrote to Amos and Panetta on Thursday (click here to read letter and statement), calling on them to "condemn this stomach-turning display without equivocation or delay and severely punish all of those responsible." The Military Religious Freedom Foundation released another photo showing a Marine and his rifle with the "SS" logo. According to the Marine Corps Times, embedded electronic information in the image shows that it was released by the Corps in 2004 and taken at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, Calif. Two Marines in it were with a scout sniper platoon. The newspaper said that suggests the practice is more widespread and that the logo's use is meant to signify "scout sniper," a position exclusive to the Corps. The Army has scouts and snipers but considers the positions to be separate. Click here to read this article at The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2012/02/10/us... MRFF UNCOVERS [THIRD REICH] MILITARIA WEBSITE WHERE MARINES BOUGHT SS FLAG Those Marines Bought an SS Flag Without Knowing What it Was? Seriously? That’s Your Excuse? by Chris Rodda, MRFF Senior Research Director Friday, February 10, 2012 There are.. a whole bunch of articles with titles like "Marines: Nazi flag was mistaken for their own," since the Marine Corps’ official excuse is that the use of the flag was just a naive mistake on the part of Marines who didn’t know what the flag was and just thought the SS stood for Sniper Scout. read this article at MilitaryReligiousFreedom.org : http://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/... |

Judged: 1 February 13, 2012 " DETROIT - Seven members of a Midwest militia accused of plotting to overthrow the government are set to stand trial, where jurors will decide whether federal authorities prevented an attack by homegrown extremists or simply made too much of the boasts by weekend warriors who had pledged to "take our nation back." Opening statements are set for Monday once a jury is seated in the trial of members of the Hutaree militia, who are charged with conspiring to commit sedition, or rebellion, as well as weapon crimes. Following the March 2010 arrests in southern Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said the time had come for authorities to "take them down." An undercover agent had recorded the group's leader, David Stone, saying the militia needed to "start huntin'" police soon. But since their capture, only one of nine people charged has struck a plea deal, an unusually low number in a case with so many defendants. Their attorneys have maintained a consistent stance: The anti-government talk was simply colorful yet aimless bluster akin to frustrated pals drowning sorrows around a campfire. "I'm going to fight it tooth and nail," David Stone's wife and co-defendant, Tina Mae Stone, said during a break in jury selection last week. "It was just a bunch of good ol' boys out to have fun. We did survival stuff. I did it mostly to spend time with my husband. People tell me,`good luck.' I don't need luck. I've got God on my side." The militia prepared for survival in case of domestic chaos or an attack on the United States, attorneys Todd Shanker and Richard Helfrick said in a court filing. They noted the group even had a website and promoted its weekend outings. "Regardless of the charges in the indictment, there is no dispute that the aims of the Hutaree militia included the free exercise of their 1st and 2nd Amendment rights, including freedom of speech, association, assembly and the right to bear arms," said the lawyers, who represent David Stone Jr. The indictment, however, describes a more sinister band. The government says the Hutaree, based in Michigan's Lenawee County, was an anti-government group committed to fighting authorities who belong to a so-called "New World Order." The defendants are accused of conspiring to someday ambush and kill a police officer, then attack the funeral procession with explosives and trigger a broader revolt against the U.S. government."... read the rest: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57376359/... |

Judged: 2 1 1 --ppppffffffftttt!!! the militia WERE the authorities here, prior to the Dec. of Ind. and after and today as they are well sanctioned in the 1787 Constitution*. To demonize the militia is like trashing the very founders of this country-- who Were militia! Every State had its own militia until a century ago when Congress started violating the Constitution and State's rights by destroying the sovereign State militias and turning them into 'National Guard'- and today that does NOTHING as far as guarding our nation, or our freedoms! The founders if here would be kicking us in our asses for letting that happen, that and the international banksters takeover of our nation's banking and the once lawful money system. Which is why Ron Paul wrote the book 'End the Fed' Trumped-up bullsh't charges about a supposed 'anti-govt. CONSPIRACY --ooohhhh my oh my, it sounds SO crackpoty/kooky to anyone with a brain and should be laughed out of court by any proper judge sworn to uphold the Constitution! This crap just sounds like 1775 all over again, and the feds have been doing this for years to patriots and lawful militia, see Infowars.com link below It's no different than what King George did to our militia, outlawing them as 'terrorists' when HE the G-damned monarch was THE terrorist (read the Dec. of Ind. to see how) What patriotic American wouldn't stand up to tyrants like the Brits back then? Oh right, a whole bunch of worthless slimy Tories and other statist suck-ups to the monarchy who were too stupid and cowardly/ sheepish to join the militias/colonialist patriots--they were the majority here then. It was a strong determined minorty who feared and loved God more than the draconian evil govt. we had at the time-- They prevailed and America won its freedom. Thank God we won or else we'd all be speakin English now! *-that document that sheeple think is 'a living document', and religiophobes insist it doesn't mention God when it certainly does, with Article 6 legally making inclusion of the Dec. of Ind. and other founder's papers Into the Constitution. |

The FBI had an informant inside the Hutaree group, according to The Wall Street Journal today. “A spokesperson at the FBI’s Detroit office declined to comment on the undercover agent and any role such an agent may have had in the investigation. A spokesman at the Justice Department in Washington also declined to discuss specifics of the investigation,” the Journal reports. It is not surprising that the FBI had penetrated the Hutaree group and an agent was apparently at the center of the alleged conspiracy. In fact, it is part of a well established pattern. On March 20, Infowars.com reported on allegations that a federal agent acted as a provocateur in the New York synagogue bombing conspiracy case. Defense attorneys in the case argued in court that the plot was hatched and directed by a federal informant. “This whole operation was a foolish waste of time and money,” Terence Kindlon, a defense lawyer who represented a client in the New York synagogue case, told the Times Online. “It is almost as if the FBI cooked up the plot and found four idiots to install as defendants.” ---------- The Hutaree Militia's Domestic Terrorism Trial Begins Today Feb 13 2012 Businessinsider.com/the-hutaree-militias-dome... Combat outpost name sparks controversy
By Joe Gould - Staff writer Posted : Monday Feb 13, 2012 15:55:21 EST http://www.armytimes.com/news/2012/02/army-co... "In the wake of controversy over a photo of Marine snipers posing in front of the Nazi-associated SS insignia, the military is facing questions about a base in Afghanistan said to be called,“Combat Outpost Aryan,” a term linked with Nazis and white supremacists. In a Monday letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation attorney Randal Mathis demanded the outpost to be renamed and the circumstances surrounding its naming be investigated. “Today’s stunning information concerning the base near Kandahar being named ‘Aryan’ is simply too much to be coincidental,” Mathis said in the letter.“Viewing either as trivially inadvertent would be preposterous.” The name “COP Aryan” appears with a June 2011, news release on the website of 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team that announced the graduation of Afghan troops with whom it was partnered from officer candidate school. The brigade has since transferred its authority to another brigade and returned home to Germany, according to separate news release. The controversy can be chalked up to a misunderstanding, a military spokesman said. The reference was a misspelling of the name of Combat Outpost Arian, situated in Ghazni Province and named for an ancient Persian tribe that once lived in western Afghanistan, International Security Assistance Force — Afghanistan spokesman said in an email to Army Times. “Their name means ‘noblemen,’” the email reads.“In historical times, the Arians lived in an area along the river Arios, which is now belongs to the Afghan province of Herat.” According to Mathis’ letter, members of the Afghan National Army and American service members had recently notified the organization about the outpost’s name. Mathis compared the name to the recently publicized display of SS insignia, which had elicited apologies from Panetta and Gen. James Amos, the Marine Corps commandant." |

Judged: 1 1 1 Posted by AzBlueMeanie: "Sen. Sylvia "6,000 years" Allen, Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen (R) says Earth is 6,000 years old.- YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch... testified before the Appropriations Commitee on Tuesday for her bill to create an "Arizona State Guard" of teabagger border patrol guards, SB1083. She agreed to rename it the "Arizona Special Missions Unit" -- Arizona's own version of the "A Team." "I love it when a plan comes together." What makes this so ridiculous is what is motivating Sen. Allen. She believes that Hezbollah is recruiting and training Mexican drug cartels for acts of terrorism against the United States. What I find curious in the reporting on this story is that our crack political reporters do not appear to have demanded that Sen. Allen provide her source(s) to substantiate her claims. I have noted where this wingnut conspiracy theory got its start. Senate panel votes to give the Governor a state militia for the border: This bit of paranoia, as best as I can tell, appears to have started with the certifiably insane Alex Jones on his hate radio show and spread to other right-wing conspiracy sites such as the Free Republic, World Net Daily and, of course, FAUX News Fraudcasting. This is a great way for teabaggers to combine their anti-Muslim bigotry with anti-Mexican bigotry -- "Mexicans are really Islamic terrorists! They're going to impose a Caliphate and Sharia law on us God-fearing Tea-Publican Christians." The Arizona Capitol Times (subscription required) at least makes an attempt to debunk this nonsense.Middle East terror group cited as reason to put armed volunteer militia on Arizona-Mexico border - Arizona Capitol Times: A senator who wants to create an armed volunteer force that can stop crimes along the Arizona-Mexico border repeated claims Tuesday that terrorist organizations based in the Middle East have formed alliances with drug cartels to the south. “We are being invaded by criminals who have formed alliances with mid-eastern terrorists who use violence in the most evil of ways to intimidate, control and protect their drug-human smuggling multi-billion dollar business,” said Sen. Sylvia Allen, a Republican from Snowflake. In an earlier committee hearing, Allen specifically mentioned Hezbollah. She also referred to reports that the group is training Mexican drug cartels.[T]he Pulitzer Prize-winning PolitiFact, which looked into the claim, said while there’s some evidence that the group’s sympathizers and fundraisers are working in the tri-border area between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, and perhaps it even has recruiters and trainers in Venezuela, there’s little evidence that the Hezbollah is “working” in Mexico. PolitiFact also said there’s even less public support for the idea that the group’s presence poses a “very significant threat” to the U.S, adding the U.S. State Department says there are no known operational cells of al-Qaida or Hezbollah in the hemisphere. OK, let me stop you right there. Any news organization that continues to cite Politifact for fact checking is undermining its own credibility as a legitimate news organization. Just stop! Politifact has completely destroyed its credibility over the past year and has made a mockery of fact checking. Rachel Maddow has done an excellent job of documenting Politifact's self-inflicted demise. She did another segment on Tuesday night. Sen Allen's "Arizona Special Missions Unit" would get $1.4 million each year, and would be under the control of the governor. It will be separate from the Arizona National Guard. As envisioned, the unit would be authorized to pursue criminals, detain and arrest and also seize property. read the rest: http://www.blogforarizona.com/blog/2012/02/up... |

Judged: 1 1 1 February 15th, 2012 by Phil Plait "The Heartland Institute — a self-described "think tank" that actually serves in part as a way for climate change denialism to get funded — http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronom... has a potentially embarrassing situation on their hands. Someone going by the handle "Heartland Insider" has anonymously released quite a few of what are claimed to be internal documents from Heartland, revealing the Institute’s strategies, funds, and much more. These documents are available over at DeSmogBlog. http://www.desmogblog.com/heartland-insider-e... Several people are going over them, and so far they appear legit. You can read some relevant discussions at DeSmogBlog, Deep Climate, Planet 3, Greg Laden, ClimateCrocks, Shawn Otto, and Think Progress. John Mashey at DeSmogBlog has more info that also corroborates the leaked documents, and to call it blistering is to severely underestimate it. One thing I want to point out right away which is very illuminating, if highly disturbing, about what Heartland allegedly wants to do: they are considering developing a curriculum for teachers to use in the classroom to sow confusion about climate change. I know, it sounds like I’m making that up, but I’m not. In this document http://www.desmogblog.com/sites/beta.desmogbl... (3).pdf they say: [Dr. Wojick's] effort will focus on providing curriculum that shows that the topic of climate change is controversial and uncertain – two key points that are effective at dissuading teachers from teaching science. That seems clear enough, doesn’t it? From that, it sure sounds like they want to dissuade teachers from teaching science. I imagine there will be a lot of spin about how this quote is out of context, or a typo, or something alone those lines. Perhaps. But I remember all the hammering real scientists took when they used jargon in their emails to each other, jargon which was gleefully misinterpreted to make it seem as if these scientists were faking data. Interesting how this is pointing right back at them. Just as I said it does. When it comes to all this, the comparison to "Climategate" springs to mind, but there’s one enormous difference: Climategate was manufactured, a made-up controversy (what I call a manufactroversy) that had no real teeth — as was its failed sequel. The emails released weren’t damning at all, and didn’t show scientists tinkering with or faking data. As much as the media made of it, as much as climate change denial blogs played them up, it has been shown again and again that Climategate was all sound and fury, signifying nothing. These new documents, though, look different, especially given that quote above. The next few days should be very interesting as people start digging into them, especially if they prove to be authentic. And how ironic! It was the Heartland Institute themselves who played up Climategate quite a bit. Back in 2009 when they were trumpeting Climategate, Heartland said: The release of these documents creates an opportunity for reporters, academics, politicians, and others who relied on the IPCC to form their opinions about global warming to stop and reconsider their position. The experts they trusted and quoted in the past have been caught red-handed plotting to conceal data, hide temperature trends that contradict their predictions, and keep critics from appearing in peer-reviewed journals. This is new and real evidence that they should examine and then comment on publicly."... read the rest: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronom... |

Tennessee County Sheriff’s Office Brings In Anti-Muslim Speaker To Train Officers About Muslim Culture
By Amanda Peterson Beadle on Feb 15, 2012 http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/02/15/... "A former FBI agent who has said a mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee has no legal right to exist will be training the county sheriff’s department about Muslim culture and terrorism threats. John Guandolo, vice president of the Strategic Engagement Group, will lead the training for Rutherford County officers at the World Outreach Church in Murfressboro. Speaking at another Tennessee church in November, Guandolo said local mosques are front organizations for the Muslim Brotherhood.“They do not have a First Amendment right to do anything,” Guandolo said then. And the pastor at World Outreach Church, the Rev. Allen Jackson, urged the Rutherfod County Commission to not allow a mosque to be built in Murfreesboro.“I would submit to you that we have a duty here at home to understand thoroughly the nature, the intent, the funding of any group that is being invited into our community under that general banner (of Islam),” Jackson told the commission in July 2010. Rutherford Sheriff Robert Arnold defended the training, saying his department only wants to find out more about Islam.“There are not many classes out there for anything when it comes to Muslims … but this training isn’t just about that, it has many other components to it,” he told the Tennessean.“My stance is and my office’s stance is, we are not here to pick sides. I am here to protect the people of this county, and I am never going to waiver from that.” But local Muslims said they weren’t asked to join the training: Saleh Sbenaty, a member of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, said the sheriff’s office never asked local Muslims to participate in the training. He said the department is supposed to protect the rights of citizens no matter what their faith. Using a trainer who thinks Muslims have no civil rights doesn’t make sense, he said. “This training is hate training,” Sbenaty said.“It is not training to keep our whole community safe.” On Tuesday, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a national Muslim civil rights group, asked the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Director Brian Grisham to “investigate the appropriateness” of the week-long training. CAIR points out that the Rutherford Sheriff’s Department “is responsible for investigating an arson and repeated acts of vandalism at the construction site of a planned mosque in Murfreesboro that has faced fierce opposition since it was first proposed.” Previously, the FBI has come under fire for teaching counterterrorism trainees about Islam using anti-Muslim materials. Spencer Ackerman reports that an internal investigation at the bureau so far has purged hundreds of pages of material about Muslims — some characterizing them as prone to violence or terrorism — from presentations given to agents. "ACTON, Mass.(AP)-- An atheist family has sued the local school district, saying their children are being discriminated against because the Pledge of Allegiance contains the words "under God." The family's lawyer asked a Middlesex Superior Court judge Monday to have the words taken out. The judge did not immediately rule. The parents are identified only as John and Jane Doe, with three children, one in high school and two in middle school. Their lawyer told the judge the children are being marginalized, and that reciting the pledge "defines patriotism according to a particular religious belief." The school district's attorney said the pledge is constitutional and voluntary. Superintendent Stephen Mills says there are no consequences for students who choose not to say it." |
