QUOTE: "I hope I didn't know anyone that was killed in that bridge collapse." __________ Pay more attention people. The initial posting was from 2006! There has been NO bridge collapse, no deaths, no injuries. Just someone wanting to sensationalize their posting - for attention. I believe they are about to start construction on another new bridge across that lake? And after it's completion they will close the old one ...and re-build it too? Someone living there can give us exact details - please?

The bridge has not collapsed, nor will it. It's sturdy it just has reoccurring potholes. I drive across that bridge everyday, and while some "fear for their lives" I do not. I feel perfectly safe driving across that bridge. And now they are beginning construction on a new bridge to connect straight to the Landing. Once the new bridge is built they will restore the old one and then both will be used, and they are adding a roundabout on the Hollister side later.

The surface you drive on may have some pot holes (what road doesn't at sometime)...however a few pot holes won't cause the bridge to collapse. MoDot (not Branson) did a study of the bridge and says it is "safe"...though it could use resurfacing. The new bridge that is underway should "fix" traffic congestion which is what is most annoying about the bridge. http://www.ky3.com/news/local/79488667.html is a link to the story on the new bridge. Incidently, the person who wrote about a "Bridge Collapse" is really quite sick...a sane person does not deliberately try to cause panic or sorrow in others with a false statement about the death of 75 people.

My family and I will be coming to Branson if then next week and have to go over the bridge on East 76 past the new landing. I have problems going over arched bridges which arch up into the sky like a rollar coaster. Is the new bridge very high and does it arch up like that or is it a flat bridge and just goes straight across the lake. What about taking 65 and going over that bridge and getting off to go to Holister there. What is that bridge like. I have severe panic attacks on bridges- even to the point of passing out at the wheel which has happened to me. I have tried to find pictures of these bridges but have had no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
