Worth saying again
Think I might change my mind for what I'm planning to go to collage for. I want to come back to THIS district to be a teacher they are the highest payed around here. Even the low ones look good for summers off and vacation Hoildays few snow days in there, more than any other job. Yep think being teacher is a little easier than what I'm thinking. Wow I'm shocked!!!

Wow check this out. Teachers are paid how much most of them almost double my total household income. And I'd would say that I'm about average. I'm not against teachers making a living, but I am against them demanding more and more from the pockets of the people. I just heard today that they plan to strike. Nice. Thanks FYI for that bit of info, it will be useful.

I think our teacher's earn their money.
Same goes for our firefighter's & police. All 3 are high stress jobs.

Then why doesn't other towns feel the same around us. Don't get me wrong they do earn their pay but should they make more than we can afford? We have people that have lost jobs and homes. Do we keep letting the high taxes put people on the street to keep high paid teachers? Or do we do like the towns around us and lower there cost to what we can afford. Does any one know what the amount of money the budget is negative on? Last time at a school board meeting I know the amount was high!!

Well I find HER comments to be offensive! Maybe she has your kids "best interest" at heart but not mine. This so called NURSE agrgued with my doctor regarding a diagnosis he gave my child! She actually told him he was wrong. OMG where did she go to medical school? Give me a break.
And it really annoys me that she thinks that there is no illness that a "organic smoothie shake" can't cure.

Try raising a family on the beginning pay for a school teacher. Think they work only 8 hrs/day. When do you think they correct all those papers,& enter the grades into a book & onto the computer? At home!! They probably work 12+ hours a day. You probably think that is a lot of money but figure out the hourly rate when you factor in all the work that is done outside the classroom. Teach? NO THANKS!! Poor starting pay & constantly belittled by people who don't know what they are talking about.

Ha Ha Ha, you crack me up! She is a few fries short of a happy meal, isn't she? She tried to send my son, who had a black eye, home saying he had pink eye! bwah hahahaha

She also tried to send my child home because she was "shaky and dizzy" and she said there was a "nuerological disorder" going around the school and she was sure that my child had it.
Oh please- give me a break!!!!!!!!!
She had low blood sugar-( something the school knows too- but I suppose she thinks that's misdiagnosed too since she thinks she is a MD). All she needed was some orange juice and was fine.

This so called "nurse" is a joke.

Wow I can't believe this. Did you hear this on Kathy and Judy on WGN on Wednesday? They said that the Chicago Suntimes had an article with this link listed. They also had it posted on their web page. Sure teachers work hard but they chose their profession just like everyone else. It is the only job I know of other than politics, where we are constantly hearing negative reports about how we fall short compared to the rest of the world, and yet they keep asking for more money. If they want more money, it should be like my job. At my job I am given a raise based on performance. If I get an "exceeds" I get 5%, If I get "meets" I get 3%, and if I get "below" I don't get a raise. Why do we keep letting them tell us that they aren't making enough money? The lowest paid teacher makes almost twice as much as the average salary of the rest of the hard working people in the Reed Custer area. I say let them strike.

Teaching is very important and for the teachers that are positive influences I am grateful, but I do not feel you can put teachers in a comparison with firefighters or police. Firefighters and Police put thier lives on the line every time they go out on a call. Their professions have a much higher mortality rate, so I do not feel that you can compare these really. I also do not see how it is that we can justify what some of the teachers make. They do make more than the majority of our population in this district. If you think about it, how many of you as an individual can say you make 70,000, 80,000 or 90,000 dollars a year? Better yet for 9 months of work? I also do feel that our police and firefighters should make more than a teacher because their jobs are more dangerous and usually more stressful.

There are kindergarten teachers making almost as much as some of the principals. I'd pitch a fit. Who is Jerry Cougill and why does he make nearly as much as the superintendent?

He is the Driver's Ed Teacher. I'll do that job if I can make that much money!!! LOL

No offense to him personally. He's probably a wonderful teacher. Lots of money for driver's ed., though. He must have other assignments which warrant $104K

He used to be the varsity baseball coach, I'm not sure if he still does that.

Teachers have a high job mortality rate. Many start teaching but burn out,& quit. Tired of children coming in without their homework done & parents who could care less,or blame everything on the teacher. How about parent complaining because it is unfair to test her child on Monday,even though junior was given the complete test to study on the previous Tuesday. They can,in a short time,become disgusted with teaching. If the pay isn't worth the crap they put up with;I don't think you'll have to worry aboout a strike. Eventually,you'll have all new, inexperienced teachers working in a district that attracts poor candidates.

Did anyone look at Coal City's district salaries? I would rather have to pay our superintendent's salary than theirs. WOW! What are Bugg's credentials? Why the difference?
