We went to Godley Park today and there are some shady skankos hanging out there. What's the deal? Godley Park used to be a safe, family focused place and now there's adults in minivans hanging out in the parking lots?

Weird.

Call the police and request they do a drive through the park. It couldn't hurt. This is a sad time and many people are living out of their cars; you don't want them hanging out in the park, they need to be directed to a place where they can get help. That is, assuming they are homeless.

We were thinking about doing this, but weren't sure what department to call or to just call 911. I don't believe these people were homeless, but they were acting strange. We pulled up to one of the pavillions in front of the playground and there was several adults sitting in a cream colored Dodge Caravan (we didn't see any kids). Once we were getting out of our car, the minivan took off and parked in a parking lot not even 100 yards away. They stayed there for about 10 minutes and, when I picked up my phone to call the police, they left the park entirely.

I wonder what they were doing..........

I was there yesterday and there were alot of people that went there for the basketball game wow maybe there invaders from another town spying on all you dumbass people that think they are up to no good. Who the hell cares its a freekn park. Have you ever just sat around in your car and talked with a friend before? I dont know why some people cant mind there own buisness and stop thinking everyone else is a shady skanko. Dont judge people before you know about them and there is one that will judge you when your times come and if your still wondering then you need to get a life.

You must NOT be a parent. As a parent, I see a bunch of adults sitting in a van and wonder "why are they there???!" Are they selling drugs? Doing drugs? Sex offenders? Terrorists?!! Why are they here, in this park, when they can be sitting in their houses? In their driveways? At their friends? At their work? Anywhere else but here, where CHILDREN are supposed to be SAFE!

It is ALARMING to me that people would tell me to mind my business.

I go to that park just about everyday and work out in the fitness center. I have never seen any people that I would worry about. The park seems very safe and there is allways some people around inside and out to see if anything happens. Has there ever been something done by shady people to worry about there? I think its a safe park does anyone dissagree?

You are correct to be on alert. Don't listen to them your doing the right thing. Braidwood and Godley need more police patrols!!!!

Yes. That's why my kid is alive and safe.

I assume you do not have children. You'll understand one day. But, if you do have children, you're probably the rason why there's so many teenage vandals destroying Braidwood.

I think acting like they did would not be weird.. sometimes on my break i dont like to park by people. maybe they just wanted to move away from your nosy face. lol..

call the police on someone in a public park? clueless. now, if it were your private property, then maybe. why don't you leave it to the park district.

just my opinion.
so tell me

So tell me something all you "non-paranoid" posters. I take it you folks are all against a neighborhood watch then? Because calling the police on a suspicious vehicle is EXACTLY something a neighborhood watch would do. There are a lot of OUT OF TOWN folks that go to that park to "fish" that lake. All it takes is a blink of an eye for someone to nab a child.

Do we forget poor Riley Fox? That beautiful 3 year old child? We all live in our "safe" little town thinking NOTHING like that could ever happen around here BUT IT DID!! You want your children or friend's children or nieces, nephews, grandchildren or cousins to be next? Well I for one DO NOT want to see that happen to ANY child!! So if it means watching a suspicious vehicle and calling the police if I see something inappropriate going on in a PARK DISTRACT THAT SCHOOLS CHILDREN, then I will. And I will continue to do so. This does not make me stupid, paranoid or any other silly little name you want to call me. Obviously YOU DO NOT believe in the saying "better safe than sorry".

From the sounds of it, some of you folks would rather wait until a child is missing or drug paraphernalia or rubbers and/or other sex objects are found laying around in the park. How would you explain to your curious little child that comes walking up with a rubber saying "oh look a balloon! can you blow it up for me?" Kids are curious and pick crap up off the ground all the time.

If you see it again, go with your gut instinct. I don't care what these other people are posting, it's your right to feel safe. Not to mention, there are alot of kids that go there.
