What's the big deal? I find it finny that some people find it wrong that some folks need a little assistance after being fired or laid off from their jobs. I can understand where some may get upset be cause of the abuse but hello why do you care? The Employer is the one who is paying for it, not your tax dollars. Some people just love to hate and act like they are better than everyone else.

omg...braidwood is still the same! For the person who commented that people on unemployment are just takers well let me tell you this...your employer probably pays into unemployment so when you lose your job...guess what! you can sign up for unemployment. Those of us who have used unemployment obviously need assistance because lack of work. With the economy as it is, there are no jobs out there! Thank you Obama! You cannot stay on unemployment forever either. You have to show that you are actively seeking work too!

just some other info wrote: Unemployment benefits ARE a form of welfare. It's a government system that forces one group of people to give money to another group of people. As a (very) small business owner with no employees, I still have to pay Federal Unemployment taxes, as well as State Unemployment Taxes ever quarter. I make less than $30k a year, so I'm far from wealthy. And even as a tiny business, I have to figure taxes into my prices. If I didn't factor unemployment taxes into the cost of goods sold, the business would lose money. If you think bigger businesses are simply "eating" the cost of unemployment, you are naive. They pass that cost on to the consumer. Another thing you're not considering is the taxpayer money required to fund Federal and State Unemployment programs. Who do you think is paying the salaries of those government employees? The taxpayers. A lot of government work goes into processing unemployment claims. If you think that leaching off the government is a victimless crime, you are sadly mistaken. Currency does not generate itself. The value of money results from hard work. So, if you're getting money without working, you can be sure someone else IS working for it. Ummm helllooooo. If you want to receive unemployment you have to pay into it! You are not getting it for free.

Braidwood IL wrote: And that folks is the reason why this country is so financially illiterate! Using a credit card to get a tattoo and then using your unemployment benefits to pay off the credit card is not a very good idea. The purpose of unemployment is to assist with buying the necessities, like FOOD. How does getting a tat keep you fed??<quoted text> I think eveyone should mind your own business. Dont worry about my life. Ill buy drugs with my uc if I choose to. Its not your life so rot in hell
