So what do people think of the new juice bar that may go in , in Cozad. This could be a great thing for Cozad, being such a dead town with nothing going on except crime. Some naked beauitful women maybe what the doctor order.18 years can go in and be their instead of running the streets. At least you would know where they are and just look how happy they all we be.

You are right. If, the place is operated with class and proper management. However, I understand that some city board is looking into not allowing the place to open. Somebody does not have their priorities right. This so called board of city fathers needs to address the more serious problem at hand. Drugs, killings, property damage etc., etc., etc.,.
lest we forget the illegals problem. You work on the last sentence of problems, everything will take care of itself!

County is pretty much broke, but the commissioners want to spend money they don't have to stop this bar from opening, which by the way they were told by their own lawyer they couldn't stop from opening.

We don't have high crime in Cozad, the last time there was a murder it was over 6 years ago and it was some moron off the interstate stealing gas. Drugs are a problem everywhere, we are encouraging drunk driving since there will be no alcohol served people WILL drink before going out there. I have heard it from those who will frequent the place. It will either work or it won't I personally won't support it my friends might.

I have read these comments and they are all rong. Lets get one point stright! Cozad has not been on the knew for crims in Six years. The last time Cozad had a big crime, it was six years ago.

Another big issue is that it is not just the board of the city of cozad that does not want this, it is also a lot of the people in town. It seems that more people are comming in from different town that are going in. Not alot of Cozad. It is mostly younger people from cozad going.! So you big city clickers can keep your unmoral mouths to yourself!! I live in Cozad.

I did live in Cozad for 15 years on east 10th just down from the city park. So I guess I do know allot about Cozad. Beside working at Monroes or setting around smelling Armor cattle there isn't a lot to do there. Chris Sorge I do know you as well.....Very well in fact.So I guess you guessed wrong.

People that visit gay bars and that they have gay boyfriends and are not open about it should not throw stones....isn't that right CS. If a person that wants to see a women dance and that person isn't hiding it and isn't breaking the law and they are old enough isn't that there right and it is no one's Damn business.

Progress has been in my town of North Platte for so long since it was dubbed "Little Chicago" and maybe the excesses of that day ruined it for everyone else for some time. The fact is the opening of Shakers in Cozad is a bold and smart move for our area. People should practice safe driving while drinking but you would think it would be a business opportunity for hotels and taxi service for designated drivers. If you dont want to go then don't but don't tell others what they can or can't do....

Wow! No crime? That's unreal!!! Is your head in the sand? When I was young and dumb I went to a few parties in Cozad-the drug use was rampant. It was 100 times worse there than in Lexington at the time. At least I was smart enough not to take any of them but apparantly you must have as it has affected your mind. I also know of a kid that was beaten in Cozad not too long ago. Isn't that considered crime? Oh and I also know of someone who got a DUI in Cozad. But I guess that's not considered crime. I could go on but check out the Trib and see if there's any crime from Cozad in the court news. It just might make you take your head out of the sand.

Cozad police get positive results in crime fighting
Several cases cleared

A Cozad man was sentenced Friday, March 28th in Dawson County District Court to 4 1/2 years in prison for several incidents involving break-ins in Dawson, Frontier and Gosper counties.

Eric L. Darling, 21, pleaded guilty in January to three felony and two misdemeanor charges from incidents involving thefts of firearms, hunting equipment and a motorcycle that occurred in October and November of 2007. He also pled guilty to illegal use of a financial transaction device, a class IV felony.

Two class III felony charges against Darling were for being a felon in possession of a firearm and a separate break-in at a Cozad apartment.

Darling was sentenced to 2 1/2 years to four years for the Class III felonies, to 10 months to 2 1/2 for a Class IV felony of receiving stolen property and six months for two Class I misdemeanors in which he also was charged with receiving stolen property.

Also sentenced on March 28th was Tim Wilson, 23, pleaded guilty for being in possession of a stolen firearm, which is a class IV felony and firing a firearm as a convicted felon, which is also a class IV felony.

Here is more on no crime in Cozad LOL Officers of the Cozad Police Department cleared several other high profile cases during the past few months. Chief Montgomery responds by saying, "I am very proud of this department and the hard work each officer puts in each and everyday." Currently there are other cases that are under investigation where arrest have been made and are awaiting either trial or sentencing.
