But what about animal abuse and cruelty and neglect? It makes me sick all of the stories I hear about people around here being cruel to animals. I believe hunting is cruel too. I understand that it helps keep the animal population down when it's legal and in season but all of the dumbass rednecks around here that brag about shooting an animal just for fun. Yes hunting is a "tradition" but it's NOT necessary for someone to kill an animal for food. However it makes me rage even more when I'm out walking in the woods and come across a deer carcass that is fully intact except for it's head/horns. That's sick. I watched a jacked up dodge truck swerve on Flat Top Road the other day just so he could hit a poor little groundhog who was just trying to cross the road. The animal was more than likely trying to find food for it's family since there is a nut shortage in this area this year. And I heard some idiots at the gas station the other day talking about shooting their neighbors cats because they were outside of their house crying. That is so wrong to me, shooting someones pet.
Before anyone calls me coldhearted yes hearing about a mistreated child makes me sad and I would never value an animals life more than a humans but honestly the ASPCA commercials on tv make me more sad than the commercials begging for money to help feed children. I know that's going to piss some right wing republican white Christians off but that's my opinion :)
please make more hate on me for posting how I feel, I'm probably already one of this places most hated :)

First, you kill an animal for food everyday, cattle, chicken, fish,, , I don't like people missing with other peoples pets either. But we need the food for our bodies,(unless ur a veggie)I do feel you should only kill what you can store and eat for the year, Just not go out and kill the whole herd :) Lovin live, like that name, funny how people use same names different people, anyway, happy hunting, fishing, wringin necks:)

Purple thanks for at least reading the topic. I am vegetarian though and I disagree that you need animal protein for your body. IF the hunter actually is eating what they kill and not wasting any part then I suppose that I can find that acceptable. But I don't necessarily agree with it :)

Can unstand that,I don't eat deer meat myself, but I do like steak,shrimp,chinken...My mom has been a veggie for most of her life,86 now, and I must say she's in better health than I am! Wasting any food is not a good thing if we would really look at our plates before we thru it down the trash! I went hunting a couple of times, saw a very small doe and just couldn't do it. I do like the jercky,it's really good if you know how to fix it!

Miss Billionaire, I must say I agree 100% with this post and I fuss about it on a daily basis. There is only one thing that I do disagree on... I do value animals lives more then I would a person. Not saying I would kill someone I love dearly for an animal, but for the rest of the population, I would not hesitate to hurt or kill them for an innocent animal, young, old, whatever. I have actually had to make a choice on which side of the road to swerve my enormous suv, towards the child on the bike or the group of dogs... I of course went to the side with the child. I just generally have zero sympathy for people, most of then disgust me.
And im sure just like you said, I will get a post telling me how sick minded I am that I would rather save an animal then a person, but hey, thats just the way I feel people!
Sorry about your luck if I ever run over any of you to avoid a sweet precious little kitten!=]

A rabbit jumped under my back tire once when I was driving, I burst into tears and felt nauseous all day. Kitten, you have to admit it is sick to say you would hit a little child rather than a group of dogs, but I know you get your little kicks in pissing ppl off so I don't put much stock into that comment. Back to the title of this thread, child abuse, two little girls in my neighborhood came over to play with my kids one day (first off, I didn't know these ppl, so why were they letting their kids go to a strangers house?!) They were playing in the yard, one of the little girls said she needed to take her shoes off because they were hurting her "boo-boo", I didn't really pay her much mind until she pulled her shoe off and had an unmistakeable cigarette burn on her ankle. I asked her if she had ran into someone's cigarette and she said "no, my daddy burned me for being bad", she said it like it was a normal, everyday thing to say. I didn't know what to do, but I couldn't just ignore it. A few minutes later their mother called for them to come home, I brought my kids in and looked through the phone book for the CPS number, told them the situation. They send out this moron that comes to my house, asks me if I can get the girl to show him the burn, I tell him that I don't even know this kid, he needs to visit their home. About an hour later, the little girl knocks on my door, she says that her mommy told her to come apologize to me for lying about her foot. To this day, I don't know if she was really lying or if the kids were really abused. I've thankfully never been in a situation like that again, but it's horrific when something happens in your life that shows how ugly the world can be.

Ahhhhh yeah I should have worded it the way you did as far as valuing someone you love's life or an animal's more than a random person's. The general people suck and animals are innocent and just doing what they have to do to survive. More people should speak up for the voiceless. WE are living in THEIR world.

I don't know. Kids just don't pull at my heartstrings. I don't want kids and in my 23+ years of life I've never wanted them I don't think I'll change my mind. I have a little niece though that I would absolutely die for but she's the only kid I really care about. Guess that makes me a sick sad individual also. Sorry but when I'm out at the mall or starbucks or walmart and some little kid just keeps saying the same thing over and over, or they're screaming their head off, j just don't get how someone can be like "I want that one day!" or "awww aren't kids just so much fun?" guess what I think is fun? Having nice things, nice furniture, lots of clothes purses and shoes, nice cars, and having plenty of money to myself :) I have honestly looked into getting an elective tubal ligation (having my tubes tied) but there are only a handful of doctors that will do them and the price is outrageous.

It doesn't make you sick or sad, it just means that you don't have compassion in your heart, or in other words, your not wired that way. Don't jinx yourself by saying never, because even though you think you're an adult at 23, you're not, you haven't experienced enough of the real world to make realistic decisions, at that age you're still in a teenage mentality but have more freedoms than a teenager. It is smart to not want children in your early twenties, I waited until I was 27 to have mine and I am glad I did because it gave me a chance to be young and dumb. And children are more than screaming brats, they are sweet, precious, funny, creative, and inspiring. The screaming doesn't happen very often;) and BTW--you can have all of those nice things and have children, too:) OBGYN's do perform elective tubal ligations if you are 25 or older, if you have found a doctor that said they would do it before that age, you need to find a new doctor sweet pea, and if you can't afford the price, most physicians offer a family care discount (birth control is considered family care).

PS- ALL of the middle aged women I know that never had children are really weird crybabies who make a big deal out of everything (because they've never had kids to meter out what is important in life, they don't know how to brush trivial things off of their shoulders) and they either have dogs that they treat like children or ten cats, one's idea of a good time is bartending on the weekend at the mooselodge, another is a swinger because she's afraid her husband will leave her if she doesn't "participate", yet another is a pitiful gold-digger that doesn't understand why the guys don't ask her out like they used to, one is already widowed and lonely...they all have nice things, they were all stunning, educated, classy women, they are all now unhappy, and all but mooselodge regret not having children, however mooselodge has went farther down hill (in status, class, and sanity) than the rest of them, swinger wins the bottom out on self-esteem...I don't care if you want kids or not, I don't even know you, but my point of all of this blabbering is that if you do ultimately decide not to have children, don't let yourself become one of these people

well congratulations you have shown you are an absolute retard.
I hope you live a lonely life you stupid reatrd and I hope you find a doctor to tie your tubes as you definitely do not need to be able to have a child,or better yet stop spreading your legs and it won't happen.
children are a blessing from god and you can tell that you will actually never be blessed.

You are so wrong. When I see older women crying because their kid didn't come home for Christmas, or because he got a DUI or whatever, it makes me glad I didn't have kids. I am 55 years old and I chose to not have children. I see lots of women like me and they all seem muxch happier than women who my age who had children. They look years younger than the ones who did and the truth is we are afraid to admit that we are all glad we didn't have children. We travel when we want and if we decide to date someone there are no children to step in to protect their inheritance. Sorry, if you want the truth, most women who didn't have children and much happier than the ones who are grieving because their child didn't turn out like they wanted.

To all of the animal lovers, there are two rescue groups in Raleigh County who would love to have your compassion for animals exerted in their group, any amount of time is greatly appreciated and the award of seeing a pup that has been starved, regain his weight,or a dog who has lived his life on a chain, finally be able to move more than 5 feet, or the innocent kitten who has been kicked, thrown or worse, crawl on a lap and and have complete trust that you will protect it,are so fulfilling. These groups set up at Tractor Supply on Saturdays and would appreciate any interest in the group, from donations of animal supplies, money for vet care or volunteers to do anything from computer work to working hands on with the animals....The names of these groups are Raleigh County Animal Rescue and Angel Wings Animal Rescue if you are interested.

please DO NOT even tell me that I'm not a compassionate person because I do NOT want to have kids. you don't know me. IMO, just because I am a female does not mean that my sole purpose in this world is to have as many kids as sweet baby jesus wants me to have. as I said I have a niece and she's all I need, I can give her back to her mom and dad when I'm tired of dealing with her =)

so do you really believe that a woman's purpose in this world is just to have children? how can you judge someone you don't know just because they don't want children. how can you tell someone that they don't deserve to be blessed because they don't want kids? that's so sad that you feel that way. it's so sad that when someone has an opinion that someone doesn't agree with, they get called a "retard" and get told that they deserve to be lonely. guess what, i'm pro-choice too, does that make me the devil? so sad.

actually FYI, i have a man who doesn't want kids either. so I'm definitely NOT lonely :)

You are so far off base. Have you ever been too a little league game, or a children's soccer game or where there are bunch of mothers around. So much bickering, and arguing or petty small crap it is funny. Mothers are the most petty, small minded bunch I have dealt with. I would much rather date a woman who is confident enough to admit she does not want children than a bitter one who is mad at the world because either she is raising a child on her own and looking for a daddy or her kid didn't turn out like she wanted. Women without children will alwasy be picked by men over those with a kid to support. Women without children are carefree and happy compared to a single mom who is always crying about being a single mom. Give me a women who does not want chi8ldren anytime over a woman who thinks the sun rises and sets in her kids eyes. Remember, when there are no children, you will always be number one.
