Seems most supporters I speak to think Obama's Health care plan will mean 'free healthcare' for all. It's not. Under Obama's Healthcare plan, all uninsured persons and families must 'by law' purchase healthcare. Obama plans to set up an exchange, where people can shop around and find the best deal that suits their needs. Sort of like the progessive car insurance Pitch lady 'Flo'.
Let's see what we will be looking at under Obama's plan. A single person making minimum wage, will qualify for federal assistance, but only for about 50% of the premiums, so think their monthly premium out of pocket for this single person will come in around $85.00. Thats alot of money for someone making minimum wage. Thats money out of circulation that would be spent stimulating the economy. It's just the wrong economic times to be putting such a burden on the lower middle class. Hear it for yourself at Obama's joint session of congress, where he says the carrying health covererage will be like carrying car insurance. skip to 2:13 in the video to hear this: http://www.youtube.com/watch... Let hear what Bradenton folks think about having to have another BIG bill to pay. |

So, what if I don't pay you ask?
This is how Massachusetts set up their "manditory health" plan. The individual mandate is a requirement that all Massachusetts residents over the age of 18, for whom available health insurance is affordable, obtain and maintain health insurance that meets minimum coverage requirements beginning July 1, 2007. Individuals who cannot show proof of health insurance coverage by Dec. 31, 2007, will lose their personal income tax exemption when filing their 2007 income taxes. Also, failure to meet the requirement in 2008 will result in a fine for each month the individual does not have coverage. This is one major point that proponents of Obama's plan don't want the general public to know about. In Massachusetts, a family of 4 with 2 working adults, making about 64k a year, is paying about $350.00 a month for minimum coverage requirements. Wow! Can middle class America afford this? |
