Without any consultation/interviews with the teachers or the public - the School Board elects a new Superintendent Dr. Dion E Betts with a 5-4 vote. How good can he be if he didn't want to know who he would be working with??? He needs to have a working relationship with the teachers, administration, school board members, and public - how can he have that if he hasn't interviewed with us.

O.J. Roberts is in the process of finding a new superintendent - the candidates have met with all the different groups and have narrowed it down to 3 candidates. How pathetic is Boyertown...the cover of darkness loams in Boyertown.

Yes, you are so very correct in your assessment. Unfortunately, the good people of our area have become apathetic to local government so as to dismiss these "wrongs" as useless and most accept events as "matter of fact" when they should be screaming to HIGH HEAVEN at the injustice of it ALL! It is already a BAD START given a 5 to 4 vote! People with ethics would not accept a job under those circumstances. At the same time an accepted process was skirted to what end?

I think the cover of darkness loams over you, you don't have a clue. They did do focus groups, more than ever before in Boyertown. I seen what the pulic and teachers and others are doing to the candidates in Owen J. why should a professional have to be degraded like that, this is their profession. These people are human and its a disgrace the way you people disect them. The truth be told the Union wants to pick the person and this time it did not work, so they are all crying.

I was involed in one of those community discussions. I also am not a teacher and don't work for the district. Dr. Betts is either naive to his job or inept. It was very poor decision for him to not require some sort of forum with the teachers as well as the public. He is in for an uphill battle - and that is not to mention the staff that may not be pleased for thier lack of involvement.

The only thing on his side is the support of the bullies on our School Board - who have lost their majority. As far as the remainder of the board - they act and think for themselves - so at times they may happen to vote. He will also find out if he crosses those aforementioned school board members that voted him in they turn on him in a second.

The people on the School Board are ELECTED so they WORK for US - so if we feel they are not doing their job it is our job to let them know. If they can't handle that aspect of their job they need to look for a new job. THEY WORK for US - they will be judged for poor actions.

BASD, that is your opinion on the subject. We all have one. There are many community members who support Dr. Betts. When is the majority going to change?- I can tell by your comments you are not a positive person and will not give Dr. Betts a chance. Therefore you are not thinking of the children or the community, only of yourself and what you want, you are the one that is naive. I am glad you have all the facts and I will start asking questions to learn the facts that were not given to all. Sounds like you are a part of a secret group that has information that the public does not. How Wonderful for you..........

Interesting, I don't quite get how you think I'm in some sort of secret group. You applaud the School Boards focus groups - I was one of the public involved. I'm not quite sure how many community members support Dr. Betts - since to my knowledge we have learned nothing about Dr. Betts from the School Board - so how could we support him one way or another.

For any interview process it's best always to interview with the person(s) you will be working with...otherwise you may have personality conflicts that will make effective working difficult.

Dr. Betts may be fine - time will tell - it appears from his resume that he may lack some experience and maybe that is why he accepted a low pay for the position. Unfortunately, when appointments take place in the cover of darkness - it casts a shadow as to WHY it was done that way.

Also, he is a President-elect for PAPSA (PA Association of Pupil Service Administators)- so his time will be split. Encouraging that he is President Elect - but not encouraging that he won't be able to devout all his time to his job.
