I think Taft or Clevelend and Reagan made whistle stops in Sidney, either the Chestnut depot or downtown freight depot. Bush's campaign bus blocked the intersection in front of the Spot Restaurant when he went in for a bite. I don't think he even made a speech, just lunch and take out for staff. Secret Service had all the exits and overpasses blocked off as well as any streets and side streets. The Chestnut depot was probably "just outside town" before being enveloped by residential development. The old building @ Fair Road and Chestnut was Wagner Manufacturing where they made Wagnerware aluminum pots and pans for General Houseware, the parent company. I worked there a while breaking down molds as well as for Monarch Machine & Tool, as an assembler, who was earlier known as a lathe builder during WWII. Mostly for ships. Copeland Corp (Emerson Climate) builds condensing units for commercial and residential refridgeration units. And Stolle's made aluminum and Mastic vinyl siding for Alcoa and had a direct line to Pittsburgh HQ's.
In the 1800's, early 1900's there were manufacturing plants that made buggy carriages and old school desks that were linked to Chicago businessmen and distributors. I saw some Sidney made desks at an Omaha RR museum display. That's a nice facility, with old passenger car exhibits. Our family helped build the RR from PA to Rockford Ill. then thru southern NE ending up in Haigler, short of the Colorado line. Other members worked for the telephone co. following the RR routes. History is pretty neat when someone can plug-in family of that era and how events affected them and their movements around the country.

hahahaha
don i am generally opposed to both sides, but yes, obama falls under that line. obama has done nothing save what his masters asked. nothing at all that a real democrat would do. from "too big to fail" on. where is the regulation? what happened to THAT part of democratic theory ? when you take my argument of the WORLD ECONOMY and weigh it against giving 99 weeks unemployment on the pee test jobs, what do you think the WORLD sees?!?! im not even asking what you think the rest of AMERICA sees? lol im asking you what the little foreign kid in haiti , with allll the stuff he deals with in a lifetime, what do you think HE thinks of your govt? LOL i can defend giving money over seas because i know what i am talking about. i cant defend giving lazy americans more, without earning it in the first place. that goes for BOTH parties. and the biggest problem is, it is what both parties STAND FOR in their own WAY. it takes you right back to kasich. he only got in because his leiman masters wanted it. he has been useless for the average people in this state. this is what "too big to fail" means guys. they are EVERYWHERE. and they are WORTHLESS. and while we are arguing about the state trooper making too much because we all know what he really is, we are totally missing the point about what is going on beyond that, IN FRONT OF US, therefore BECAUSE of us. from the patriot act to "in the event of an emergency, we can confiscate what we need", they are slowly unraveling the constitution, and nobody even CARES. you are considered a "threat" to both sides to actually MENTION this fact! what does that TELL YOU?! ...... we have desk jobbed, clickety clacked our way into a recession and we dont even have the sense to figure out WHY when 93 percent of us collect checks and closer to 15 percent of us ACTUALLY SERVICE THE ECONOMY! i mean.... nah. its not just kasich, or the republicans. its not just obama, or the democrats. i am beating a dead horse because "too big to fail" won you people over before it even hit the streets. WAY before sarbanes oxley screwed the pooch. hope and change will never be more than catchphrases because EVERYONE is afraid of what it means "FOR ME". regulation, rule of law, is no longer any more important than something else you can buy. |

and kennesaw, im glad you think im funny.
ive heard some of you guys. i hear them at every graduation ive ever attended. always gotta guest speaker just like you. "doing great things" but cant tell what. and when you do tell us, we just kinda look atcha. i am a freethinker. i will continue to be a free thinker. i am a funny guy. and i do very much enjoy my analogies. its just sad to me that so many need to be explained to such a contextual nipple. ps guys, i thought long and hard about the "what is a real american" thing. it wasnt an easy , off the cuff answer for me. what, a week or two? a "real american" wants his country to survive for his grandchildren. BETTER than it is today. its on us to make our lives better than they are, its not the governments job. it is the governments job to make sure we have a fair playing ground to do that. |

and honestly guys, i am appalachian and i am proud of that.
i am one of the few college educated who actually AM HAPPY being here. this is MY home. we fought a war to get out from under the yolk of "taxation without representation". shortly after, the moonshining business began, in this general area, because THE UNITED STATES government needed to PAY FOR ITS WAR. and what was that? a liquor tax. and so it all began. i have no major issue with your "world economy" other than the fact that, AS BEFORE, you monkeys cannot seem to run it as well as you think you can, yet want to impose ways of life upon us without due cause, as you ALWAYS HAVE. i am simply appalachian. lol the problem is, there never has been and never will be, enough REAL appalachian thinking going on in the ivory towers, the wall streets, etc. there may be some who think they are, ie, kennesaw. but they are not. we are still here, fighting the same battles our people are destined to lose. THAT is what we are. we have never known the win, we have never known true freedom. hence, the swing state mentality, hence "voting against" rather than "believing in". these people have done little for us even when they tried. long ago, we lost faith that they were trying. |

Judged: 2 2 1 I don't know about that. OHIO unemployment down to 7.5%. Well, that's using the "OBAMA METHOD" to count. Still, it's lower than some other states. |

Judged: 2 1 1 Your "worst governor" has turned the state of Ohio economy around in record time, you ignorant hyperpartisan fool: "Ohio created the fifth-most jobs in the country in 2011 — Kasich’s first year in office — and led the nation in that category in February. Unemployment fell to 7.6 percent in February in Ohio, well under the current national rate of 8.2 percent." http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local... |
|
Judged: 1 1 1 Why do you say that? Because somebody told you so? It's obvious you have no idea what's going on in this state. Stickaland left this state with an 8 billion dollar debt that Kasich cleaned up for you. He came into office with Ohio ranking 47th in job creation. Today we are fourth in job creation. When did Strickland ever do anything that amazing? |
