I thought my Bible talked about Locusts, not cats running rampant. End time are so near!

Just like the people who dumped their cats at this rest stop, I see the "eedjits" are out this morning on the Dispatch Boards.

We got one of our best kitties from a rest stop where she had been abandoned. She had a pretty feisty personality. I cannot understand why she was abandoned, though, especially as she had been declawed and was thus defenseless.

How heartless to abandon a declawed kitten outside! And I'm so glad that kitty found a home with you. One of my best kitties was a stray that wandered in my yard & that had no mother. He is the most loving animal!

"The only other option is to euthanize them, which we don't want to do," said Kay Chapman of the county humane society."

And why not? God forbid a cat should die? What in the world is wrong with people? These are CATS, not human babies... oh, by the way, what is your view on human abortion lady?

As someone who travels regularly to Detroit and often stops at this rest area, I am glad to see that someone is doing something. I counted 11 cats on my last stop there (Mother's Day weekend), and I'm sure there are more. It is absolutely heartbreaking the way people treat their "pets."

And to Res Ipsa Loquitur - human beings have the option to use birth control and choose whether or not to procreate. House cats, who have been domesticated by humans, do not. They are dependent on people because people have made them dependent, and like it or not, it's now the responsibility of people to take care of them.

if these are really ferel cats then they are not pets. I dont agree with euthanizing them, but they should relocate the colony. Ferel cats cannot be domesticated and if someone tries to take them into their home they will end up being dropped off somewhere else.

Feral cats are for the most part unadoptable because they are feral with very little to no human interaction more than food being put out. They are generally mean, nasty fur covered razor blades that only want left alone.
The best thing they can do is capture, spay and neuter and release. If they destroy the cats, the only thing that will happen is more will move in to fill the vacuum created by removing the others.

The location in the article actually describes two rest areas -- one for northbound I-75, and one for southbound. So which is it>

There were zillions of 'em at the apt complex I used to live at. They fought in the middle of the night. I'd hear "reayarrr ffttt ftt". They'd eat out of the dumpster, too. The owner finally called someone to take them away.

Feral cats are hopeless unless you have a place in the country that you can capture one or two, have them fixed and let them roam your outbuildings for rodent protection. If you don't spay, you will have a colony in no time.

Well, look at it this way.If the dollar dies,is devalued to zero and the economy collapses, you'll always have an abundant food source to live off of.
