I have ADD and need it badly. Anyone know a doctor that I can see that prescribes it? I'm self employeed and don't have the best insurance. I've googled, checked the phone book, and called around, no place refers any good ADD doctor.

I have insurance but don't know what internists are familiar with adult ADD/ADHD. I have been seeing my doc back home but I am tired of the commute. FYI you do not need a specialist or an "ADD Doctor" to prescribe you adderall. A GP, internist and others can write the script. It helps to have a doctor that knows what they are talking about and not afraid of adderall or vyvanse.

Dr. Tapp is good despite his reputation. He usually prescribes Vyvanse for it.

He prescribes it to alot of women who just want to be pencil thin. I would go to someone who can properly diagnos ADD and I am not quite sure you really need it for that reason, otherwise you would have gone a more reliable web site.

Actually, that's not true. The women may want to be skinny as well, but he goes through an extensive eval before he gives it to u.

Sure he does...Any doctor needs to have documentation to substantiate their reason for prescribing any drug...a.k.a. covering their butts. There are not that many grown women running around with ADD/ADHD. There are alot of self-absorbed, insecure, women that want to look like a college girl for the rest of their lives. They are more than likely going threw hormonal, or blood sugar fluctuations due to poor diet and that is why they have trouble focusing. Don't kid yourselves, these drugs are very potent and come with many side effects some of which are very dangerous if a person does not need to be on them.

claudia please suggest some rehab places, you might want to look into volunteering at one since you obviously need something to do. :) I take vyvanse and am not aware of any doctor in BG that has a problem prescribing it as long as you actually need it. As far as doctor shopping, maybe the people without insurance can do that. To receive adderall or vyvanse you must be seen monthly by the prescribing physician. You cannot get refills called in or prescribed. You must receive a new script every month. My insurance does a pretty bang up job of monitoring this and will not approve the medication if I try to fill it before the 30 days is up. now let's all send good thoughts Claudias way so she can hopefully get a life, hobby, friends or find a knitting circle to join.

Oh geez, the first 2 posters clearly asked for doctors that prescribe the medication. the 2nd poster specifically asked for a doctor that is familiar with adult add/adhd. neither one asked for places to score the drugs. neither asked for internet mail order pharmacies, street drug dealers or shady doctors. adderall is abused and has potential harmful side effects. hence the strict regulation on it. the scripts have gone up in recent years some of that for legit reasons some not so legit. to suggest rehab, doctor shopping and implying that just because the meds are ill prescribed a person is protesting too loudly is ignorance. If I am in a serious car accident that results in a surgeon prescribing pain killers does not mean the doctor is shady or i am an addict. a person diagnosed with add by a medical doctor and given meds to treat it does make them an addict or a middle aged woman trying to get skinny. if you cant address the reason for the post then why bother responding at all? if you are so worried about these peoples potential drug addictions then suggest a doctor that you feel is responsible. which is what they are asking for. or get a life :)

aint it common sense to call a local doctors office about this presciption info? they know alot more about the means of getting it if you really need it. and maybe YOU should get with a local doc and ask about your intense stupidity. maybe they can help you

People who are seriously looking for a REPUTABLE doctor for a medical condition, that they have been previously diagnosed with, don't get on topix to find one. People get on topix looking for someone to recommend a doctor who is known for prescribing the meds they want with the least amount of hassle...MORON!!!!

I am a teacher and it is pitiful when you watch kids whose bodies have become used to the medication and then they are abruptly off the medication (cold turkey) because parents say they ran out and are waiting for the doctor to call in refills. What is happening many times is the parent(s) are taking the medication to get high and use up the prescription, therefore having to wait until 30 days are up and they can get a refill. Guess what? The same thing the next month and so on and so on...These kids really need the medication and it is awful what they have to endure!!!!

thank obama. instead of seeing your doctor to treat you, you are going to need a whole team of docs. and i dont mean gyno, internist and dentist. i mean ALL that plus a "pain clinic" doc and a psychiatrist and of course whatever else they can think of. the war on drugs? screw meth, its a losing battle so lets go after the grandma that gave her son a pain pill or the 16 yr old that sold 2 of his adderall to classmate for 10 bucks. call around. no doc is going is going to give you adderall. new legislation going into effect and the docs dont want to deal with the paperwork. sorry. the question now is, who is a decent psychiatrist in bg? anyone? anyone? i dont mean a turn a blind eye doc, just a doc that is not an asshole smug doc?

blaming Obama for a drug problem that has been going on for years. Grandmas don't need to be giving pain pills to anyone they are not prescribed for and no kids need to be selling pills! Do you not think this behavior might lead to meth using down the road? Stop sugar coating your behavior and take responsibility, then Obama wouldn't have such a mess to clean up!!!!!!!!

I just want to take this moment to tell you to shut up. I don't care if you posted this two years ago. Your attitude sucks. What makes you such an expert anyway? "Not many women running around with ADD... Self asorbed, Insecure women who wants to look like college girls... "
You don't know what you're talking about so shut the hell up with your BS." You know nothing about other people's lives to make such a claim. Do you have ADD/ADHD? Do you or have you taken any ADD medications? What medical school did you graduate from? You know nothing. I hate people like you who automatically accuse people of faking ADD to get drugs just because they're adults. Some of us really do have a problem and have had it affect our jobs, college and relationships and would like to do something about it.
