half of these people dont know what the hell they are talking about.. this juvenile detention center is one of the strictest and should be used for children who have committed serious crimes like murder or rape or arson but not for peaty crimes like cultivation . yes kids come out with a whole new perspective and some dont some of these kids have a hard enough life without having to deal with someone screaming in their faces everyday.. some of these kids have lost hope and it is of this reason they are in here. some of these kids have nothing and nobody throwing them in jail is not the answer!

Okay people, really?
You're honestly going to argue OVER THE INTERNET, about a correction facility for juveniles?
The kids that go there need to be straightened out, yeah, and some of the things they do there may or may not be fair, but you can't do anything about it.
Its what the state "sees fit". kay?
There is no point in arguing about it. Jeez.
I've heard a bunch of s**t about what happens there.
Who knows if its true or not. Who really cares?
If you're not in the facility, or you don't have a kid there, you have no need to even talk about the place.
Gah.

Police dont take kids to jail and lie about what they are doing. My son goes to school with a boy who has been there 2 times and laughs about it everytime he goes so they are not to bad. This young man does not have any respect for anyone and he does not seem to care if he goes back. So they are not bad enough because this boy needs someone to straighten him out and his mother has tried everything. Sometimes kids are just bad they dont always have a parent to blame. They think the world owes them and they dont care.

<quoted text>Excuse me but that is crap. Most parents try to raise their children to the best of their ability and still kids sometimes break your hearts. Kids will be kids and do stupid things just like you and I did. You cannot blame the parents nor should society crucify our kids. They are after all just kids!!!
I agree with u most parents do the best they can. I have a child in the juvenile dentention center as I type this letter my heart is more than broke, he is there because he felled a drug test I never raised my child to use drugs of any type they have never been in my home. I'am not blaming anyone for what my child has done cause he knows better, but he got messed up with the wrong crowd. I have a friend that has a relative that works for the juvenile detention center and says that warren county is one of the worst detention centers in KY. The kids are not allowed to move without being in trouble. People that think its funny, or say well they deserve what they get need to stop and think they never know what they may face before they leave this world. So dont judge kids that got in a bad situation, and parents that have done the best they can. I have met kids that come from there and they hate the world. Yes if someone does wrong punish them, but dont take it to the extremes. They still have feelings. Kids are normally given drugs by adults, get them off the street and maybe our children will be okay. Me along with anyother parent that has been in this situation Loves our child just like the one doing the judging and carma is bad.

You are correct. This is why I think the entire story that the original poster posted is bogus. Kids get arrested at school for possession of drugs and selling drugs and they don't get taken there; they are released to their parents. I hardly thing a speeding ticket will get you a trip to juvie.
have you got a child in the detention center. I know a boy that got caught 3 times at school for possession, and they never took him to the detention center. My son never got caught with drugs he just felled a drug test, and got sent there. Dont call me a liar and say there is more to it cause i have no reason to lie. Till you have been there or have a child there keep your thoughts and opions to yourself.

Children should be punished for their mistakes, but to put a child that used drugs, with a rapist or a murder is a little bit over the map.

I had 2 boys there and yes it is very strict just like us parents should be at home. You can visit everyday I think except Sat. or Sun.I am not sure...but it made a big improvement in my children. It's there not only for kids who break the Law but for kids who are out of control so if you are a parent and at your breaking point,do it.

ok i know someone who works there and they can be taken to jail if they are in a situation of indangering someones life without all the hoops so if the officer said he was doing 90 its an automatic detention til going before judge. From the horses mouth, also they are strickt but alot of thouse kids have anger and personality issues the rules are there to protect the employees as well as the kids.

There are a lot of hoops that you have to jump through before you can take a juvenile to the detention center unless there is a pickup order on them or something so I highly doubt that any child went to jail simply on a speeding charge. The officer has to go through the CDW who then has to go through the judge to even lodge a child in the detention center. Most charges they will just cite the child and release to the parent or guardian. I do have to say though, whatever they do in there, it appears to have an impact on even the most unruly kids. I have had several kids that I have worked with that were completely out of control in court and to other people, and after staying two weeks in the juvenile detention facility, they were a whole lot more respectful and willing to take responsibility for their actions.

When you are caught speeding, if it is so many miles an hour over the speed limit, it is an
arrestible offense. That is probably the reason
they took him to jail.

I don't know about how true the punishment that was described in this thread is true. That is asking too much of someone, suppose you had to sneeze or blink an eye? That sounds like something made up to me. Even tho the detention center is to correct a mistake, it's not to abuse its power either. That sounds like torture camp to me!

My son was sentenced there today. I have tried everything to get him to behave and show respect to others. He has gone off the deep end and believes that he is above the law. When asked by the prosecuting attorney about my feelings of sending my child to juvenile hall, I replied that I love my child and have tried everything to change his ways. If it takes sending him to juvenile hall, then so be it. Hopefully, this will straighten his behavior out before he becomes an adult and realizes that he is going to have a boss over him his entire life!!! I feel awful that my entire family is constantly on pins and needles wondering what mood or behavior he is going to exhibit on a daily basis...

Amen Ladies, that is what good parenting is about. In a juvenile center they recieve treatment on their behavior issues. I am a criminal justice major and the Juvenile Delinquency course was a real eye opener. You can not let your childs improper behavior be released into society because when they get older they will go through the jail system without rehabilitation that will assist in them becoming a better societal person. I commend you for taking the steps you did,
