It would have been good if some family members were to share the home for security. Family and friends are your best protection. You can't count on these commercial devices like Brinks or Slomans Shield. A clever crook can cut the wires to facilitate his theft from the property and assault on the lone tenant. That was the case here, murder in the course of a robbery(Felony-murder) and we can learn from these mishaps by adopting new precautionary measures. My neighborhood has a good neighborhood watch program that keeps it nice and safe.

(DC Examiner News Update) Police fear that latino gangs such as the ms-13 are going to become more dangerous and ruthless by going to good quality neighborhoods to commit their burglaries and assaults. The theft and violence are happening already at several neighborhoods in Upper Marlboro and Lanham as well as some areas in Charles County. The lone elderly women that got attacked in their homes and robbed in recent years according to police is a trend that will need the public's help to combat. |

I can not wait to get out of here...we are up here on a year long temporary assignment. Only four more months to go. I don't know how y'all stand this place. I can't having to live here and deal with the constant violent crime.
