Maybe one day you will get out of the basement, take off your mom's dress, stop dry humping daddy's golf bag, and do something constructive with your life. Until then, I'm sure you will be perfectly happy trashing everyone around you. If you are going to start multiple threads for the pupose of making fun of people, at least make it look like it was typed by a adult. Better yet, make fun of those people to their face. It's far more effective, but will require you to grow some balls. I almost feel sorry for you.... almost. Normally I don't like to step in on a thread like this but I will this time. You mentioned typing like an adult to me it looks like the door could swing both ways especially with the attitude i'm seeing here and why is nowadays that people have to try insult others with sexual innuendos? Used to people said I disagree or agree and that would be the end of the discussion it looks like the majority of topix users could all stand to chill a bit

You can be stopped and ticketed for less than 10mph over in a construction or school zone. So for a blowhard that claims to know the facts, the fact of the matter is the facts seem to elude you Slingblade. Just a little advice, maybe you should start a post with this. "You are an idiot and just talking trash" Well Corkey it looks like i do know what i am talking about don't it. You always have to throw your 2 cents in on every topic on here even when you don't know what you are talking about. So Rain man go back to watching Andy Griffith on tv because that is where you get your facts from about the law.

John In North Carolina wrote: <quoted text> Thanks MSO4. On the state highways when the Dept of Transportation does the traffic survey they have at their disposal the data on the grade. You use the rise over run formula to figure the grade. I had a deputy who asked about the grade on a road and if I thought it exceeded the grade. It was a constant argument from those who got tickets there that it was too steep, unfair etc. I assisted him and took a level and a ruler and figured the grade on a road. Here is a link that sort of explains it. The level/ruler application is down about half way in the article. http://www.1728.com/gradient.htm I I really find it intesting that so much detail goes into the rules of and how traffic laws are enforced. Very complex. Thanks.

Did you notice how the chain gang is out in the City edging the streets, things I can't get to at my house. Not only does the City have them working at local municipalities, but in our own neighborhoods. I think the Cheif had something to do with this. Thanks Cheif, I vote for you!

Not only does the City have them working at local municipalities, but in our own neighborhoods. I think the Cheif had something to do with this. Thanks Cheif, I vote for you! Actually this has been going on for many years in the cities and counties. The elected officials would contract out with the State of Georgia Department of Corrections for use of the inmates that were housed at the now defunct boot camp in Bremen. I know when I started in law enforcement in the mid 70's there were trustees picked up at the Carroll County Work Camp as it was called back then and carried to the Georgia State Patrol Post in Villa Rica to clean, mow the grass etc to save taxpayers money. Carroll County Jail as well as other county jails have trustees that they allow to do these things to save money to the taxpayers. The Carroll County Prison does the same thing. You can see these trustees out in the counties picking up trash. Many are skilled carpenters, electricians etc and their labor is put to use at no cost to taxpayers on repairs, and new builds where possible. They operate the motor graders and other heavy equipment to build and repair roads. I think it is a great way for the taxpayers to get some of their money back that is used to fund jails and prisons.

Very true. If I am not mistaken, only the GSP can write for less than 10 over. I wouldn't lie...look it up.

Let's settle this argument once and for all. There is NO allowance for issuing a citation under Georgia Law for under 10 MPH in a construction zone. Let's settle this once and for all. Here is the statute as written:
40-14-8. When case may be made and conviction had
(a) No county, city, or campus officer shall be allowed to make a case based on the use of any speed detection device, unless the speed of the vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit by more than ten miles per hour and no conviction shall be had thereon unless such speed is more than ten miles per hour above the posted speed limit.
(b) The limitations contained in subsection (a) of this Code section shall not apply in properly marked school zones one hour before, during, and one hour after the normal hours of school operation, in properly marked historic districts, and in properly marked residential zones. For purposes of this chapter, thoroughfares with speed limits of 35 miles per hour or more shall not be considered residential districts. For purposes of this Code section, the term "historic district" means a historic district as defined in paragraph (5) of Code Section 44-10-22 and which is listed on the Georgia Register of Historic Places or as defined by ordinance adopted pursuant to a local constitutional amendment. The argument that it applies only to a CITY COP is a improper and unsubstantiated. It applies to city cops, county cops, county deputies, college officers. As I stated before this only applies if you are using a speed detection device. If you are clocking with your speedometer then you can write for 1 mph over. I have never seen it done and doubt if it will ever be done. As stated before this does not apply to the Georgia State Patrol.

This 72 yr. old did not get stopped and ticketed by a Bremen Cop for going 42 in a 35 in front of Big O's. The guy is just talking crap like i originally stated. This is not a construction zone or school zone but even if it was none of the guys or girls that work for the city of bremen would have done what this guy is saying. "SLICK"

Am I right or wrong? I'm with you! I heard that Mr. Cantrell's shop was cleaned out and he wasn't insured. That is a shame!! That sweet man wouldn't hurt anyone and the fact that someone (or more than likely more than one) would take what is rightfully his is just wrong.
