Really applaud these citizens. Hope they have a recall of all of the BOE, and do some serious looking at the individual who heads the "FOR PROFIT" union. They need to hire a tough minded lawyer -- outside Clayton County -- with the view of doing some serious 'suing' of most of the board members, and the union that may have caused a lot of the problems. The proceeds could go for scholarships for the kids who have suffered this year as a result of the BOE's malfeasance and total incompetence while in office.

Parents Plot 'Take-Over' of Clayton Schools
Organizers of Saturday's "mega town hall meeting" for parents who want to save the public schools' accreditation expect that the meeting's venue, the huge gym of Mount Zion High School, may not be big enough ...

I would like to say good luck to the parents in Clayton County. I would also like to praise Charlton Bivins for his comment at the end of this story and his willingness to admit that the parents need to take responsibility in this matter. They are doing something about it - which I praise them for. They are also willing to admit they are partially responsible for allowing this to happen - which I praise them for as well. We ALLOW the school system to educate our children - but it is our responsibility as parents first and foremost!

This is a great idea and a huge step in the right direction.

I would tend to agree that this is too little, too late. This should have been done a long time ago but given the TOTAL lack of elected leadership from the Dog Catcher on up in Clayton County it may have to suffice. I doubt that it will sway the accredidation agency however. I am glad to hear that at least the organizers understand the blame ultimately falls on the electorate of Clayton County. They have far too long elected individuals who had absolutely no business being in a leadership or authority role. The electorate has pushed out far too many qualified incumbents and candidates because of race and poltical affiliations. I just wish that one of these arrogant, unqualifed and corrupt leaders (Sheriff, Mayor, County Commissioner, etc.) would show some morality and lead the way for some serious reform. If nothing else one of them should show some cajones by resigning and speaking out against this culture of corruption and political patronage, racial division and power brokering. I won't hold my breath... |

ADC, you are so correct, thank you!
But I am going to spell it out in more detail. The electorate of Clayton County was voted in for their colour not their ability or ambition to do the job. They saw an opportunity to replace the whites when the population majority shifted from white to black. Their campaign was vote for me, I'm black. It worked, but credentials & ability was not part of the equasion. Maby next time the voters of Clayton will pay attention to ability and desire to do a good job instead of colour only. |

Thank you for your post. I have been labeled a racist as I have made the same comments that you have made. People tend to elect the popular person instead of the qualified one. Proof now is what has happenned to the school system. Same thing with E.Bell and the sherriff. I guess the light is finally on but what the heck I'm just a white boy who has been labeled a racist so my comments don't count. I am laughing at the folks in Clayton county as they have caused the issues there |

FANTASTIC! Well done Clayton County Parents! Definately get rid of the current board, that was clearly one of the 9 issues. Must be done to get accrediation. Very proud of you.

Racism is a two lane highway and unfortunately the primarily minority electorate of Clayton County has seemingly been run over twice by both sides of this issue for far too long. I just hope that the electorate now has realized their error and seeks out the best leaders in their communities. To paraphrase MLK the county electorate should judge their leaders by the conduct of their character, not by the color of their skin. |
|
Both statements are true, and it proves that no matter what the blacks take over in any form they cannot get along and run things with order, they are just unable to do anything as a group. |

As I read the media reports of all the happenings in the Clayton school district, I can't help but think "What about the educators? How does this affect them? What are they doing to try to make a change?" Many of them are fleeing the county to steer clear of the mud slinging, but that only leaves vacancies in the system where decent teachers use to be. Who is filling those vacancies? How can the educators help the situation? I guess I am just wondering where they fit in to help the accred. process.

That language sounds like some of the school board members lol. |

Without much fanfare, they could have accomplished this at the last election.
Where were they then? |

I do not have a child in the Clayton County school system. I don't even live there. I simply want to offer my prayers of support for all the parents who have children in the system...I hope there isn't a building big enough to hold all the parents in attendance at this meeting - that would mean that 52,000 children had at least one parent who was there. If they can put aside their anger and frustration, name calling and blaming and look forward, they will save their childrens future and undo some of the damage done by the current administration. Good luck and God Bless.

I've found out through the years that anytime black people are in the majority of a decision making process, it's going to turn out bad for everybody most of the time. I really think they know right from wrong but they just can't seem to do the right thing. Amazing thought process for civilized people.

You are absolutely right. They took over clayton county and it went to pot. Next is Atlantic Station; suppose to be nice but how many shooting have there been there since it opened!?!? Look at the difference in North Dekalb and South Dekalb and North Fulton and South Fulton. No one wants to say it but there is one common denominator! |
