Sadly, "collector's items" become valuable when they are rare, and he's ensured that this newspaper edition will never be rare.

When the time is right, all he has to do is destroy most of the copies.

Unfortunately there will be 10,000,000 copies of other newspapers around the country that have been saved and tucked away.

I'm still looking for a copy of that Chicago newspaper that had the headline reading "Dewey Defeats Truman". Wonder what that's worth???

I am sure you are right about that. I see a second problem. This guy is in his sixties. If he was much younger, he could wait out lots of the people who have copies. Hope he did not pay too much for those papers.
Now that Dewey Defeast Truman must be worth a great deal. Especially in mint condition. Doubt that could ever happen again things are so differnt now.

Agreed on all of the above...grin...I went and did an ebay check and it looks like it could bring $1000-$3000 give or take. I would have thought more, actually, but still that's not too bad.

Nice thought, but I would have gone for Time Magazine, or some other established periodical.

He had better keep the papers somewhere dry or 50 years from now they will fall apart. Of course, 50 years from now, who will remember Osama's (oops obama's) name? Not me for sure.

Will my special section of the Orlando Sentinel be worth anything? I didn't even have to pay extra for it! Right now it's still laying on top of the couch because I don't have the special acid free folder or box to put it in. Anybody want to make me an offer?
