Elderly drivers could face more tests

i think that while it is sad that we are harder on our elderly in every way. we treat them the same as if they were working and unfortunately there driving skills are not what they were when they were young. my father drove till he had a bad acident he lived for about a month after the whole ordeal he tagged the end of a guard rail and i was there to seeit right behind him. while i understand how degrading it is to get older it is our responsibilty to keep our loved ones safe.

Discrimination is discrimination. What's so hard to understand!

I can't beleive you are so blind to the truth where you jepordise peoples lives People that can't drive shouldn't be on the road. I don't care what their age is. It just so happens the elderly have the bigest problems. How would you like an 89 old with poor eye sight driving your kids or grandkids school bus?

I am 51 years old Driving is a privilege, not a right! When I get to a point where I can not drive safely I will not drive, Even now I do not drive when I do not feel good, I am disabled, When my back and legs do feel right I will not drive I let my wife drive or I ride my bike or I call a taxi. But At some point in our lives we have to give up our car if we can not drive safely. I know some elderly people that drive great, But then I know some that should not even look at a set of keys.
We have all seen some of them? They will be driving 15 or 20 mph in 50 mph zone, this is not being safe this is a hazard To all that is around them, Just like people that speed in flow of traffic that is 60 and they are going 80, that is a hazard....
You know there is a season for every thing, and if you can not stay with the flow and keep it safe then your season has come and gone. Do not say I do not know what I am talking about because I work with the elderly and there families 5 days a week.

I drive a motorcycle when I see white hair I get as far away as I can. No offense to old people because most of us will be old someday but some of you should not be on the road. Its unfortunate and sad that some people reach an age were they can no longer safely drive.
But all of us are going to be old some day so its important to treat the elderly with respect.
