It doesn't matter if her reasoning is legitimate or not. The district has a rule which says no piercings so you have to follow it. What happens when she gets into the workplace and her boss tells her she can't wear the nose ring? Is she going to have her mom go tell the media? Parents are raising children to rebel against rules and authority. These kids have their parents to blame.

The made my daughter take her piercings out and despite their dresscode allowing for religious and cultural significance, they disallowed my daughter to as well. I have since removed her from public school.

http://www.davis.k12.ut.us/policy/manual

11IR-107

"4. RELIGIOUS CLOTHING AND APPAREL
4.1 Because dress is a form of individual expression, any prohibition or regulation of religious
clothing or apparel must be done in the least restrictive manner possible to accomplish
district and school objectives of maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.
School officials should make appropriate exemptions to dress codes and reasonably
accommodate students who wear hairstyles, clothing, head wear, jewelry, cosmetics, or
other apparel as a personal expression of sincerely held religious beliefs.
4.2 Religious attire that should be appropriately accommodated in school includes, but is not
limited to:
4.2.1 Hairstyles;
4.2.2 Yarmulkes;
4.2.3 Head scarves or turbans;
4.2.4 Crucifixes, Stars of David, CTR rings, and other jewelry;
4.2.5 T-shirts or badges with religious messages or insignia;
4.2.6 Items of ceremonial dress.
4.3 School officials should also be sensitive and appropriately accommodate students who
request not to wear certain gym clothes that they regard, on religious grounds, as
immodest."

I would also like to say that no children were asked to remove their CTR rings. This is obvious discrimination.

The only religion these people respect is the LDS Faith. The bigotry is getting really old from these people.

The point is we need to change people's perspective of different being wrong. You think we all need to look the same. There are plenty of people in the workplace that would welcome individuality. Just because you have a close little mind, doesn't mean everyone else in the diverse world should. It's people like you that perpetuate hate and bigotry. Your antiquated views need to make way for progressive thinking. We're not all white christians with black suits and ties. America is a diverse people with many cultural influences. GET OVER YOURSELVES! GET YOUR RELIGION OUT OF MY FACE!

7.4.2. J

"any clothing or apparel that conveys a specific, particularized message
(e.g., political buttons, religious jewelry or apparel, etc.) that school
officials can prove has caused or imminently will cause material
disruption of classwork, or substantial interference with the work of the
school or invasion of the rights of others may be prohibited"

The have to prove that piercings have been linked to disruption. I would love to see a study that proves a nose ring is more disruptive than a earring or a finger ring. These morons are just trying to allow their LDS way in and not allow everyone else to practice their own. I find a moment of silence for prayer in class a disruption, yet they allow for that. haha. These people are ridiculous.

I think schools in the United States are taking things way too far nowadays. People are getting way too offended by what others do and it's getting way beyond a joke. Whatever happened to freedom of expression? I guess it's not allowed with all these conservatives shoving their beliefs down everybody's throats. Enough is enough, America. Suzannah Pabla did it to honor her culture and she was punished for it. Doesn't make sense to me. Then again not a whole lot does anymore. When will we learn to set limits on what is right and what is wrong? Miss Pabla is not in the wrong for honoring her Indian culture. WAKE UP, AMERICA.

How can you consider taking air time for this. At least get the facts straight about the cultural issues and what the school board tried to do in compromise. You have lost me as a watcher, forever, when this trivial stuff gets near top billing and the Nevada Counts decision about our water and Las Vegas doesn't even make the news.

You do soft agitating and not complete reporting. Not worth watching.

Just another thought. With a little work you can make your comments more difficult and obscure. Nice job in hiding though. Glad this is the last time I spend here.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Scorpio

This is not the easiest day for concentrating on what needs to be done, whether tackling those Christmas cards and letters, writing out a list of jobs, or getting on with other urgent work. Mental activity seems to be blocked, as Mars is slowing and Mercury is under cosmic pressure. Take some time out for meditation, or reflection, and let your subconscious do the work.
