1 I'm not talking about the big man made loch, I'm talking about the little spring fed pond at the top of Carrol at Lake - it's pretty small, but it's natural. Loads of turtles, small fish and birds |

Hope you're leaving some of the vegetation for frogs.

1 I find it odd that the county naturalist doesn't understand the natural progression from creek to pond to meadow. |

1 I guess you're having noise problems in your trailer park again that prevent you from sleeping. After you're done eating your Big Mac with Fries and the Gigantic Coke, you can go to Walmart and look for more cheap crap. People like you obviously need no nature. |
||||
People live in trailers too in the woods! And a big mac, fries, and a coke are delicous!! Bet you have had one. |
||||
Bill is absolutely correct. Nature is not a picture postcard that mimics our perception of what it "ought to look like". It is forever changing. You can blame the Sierra Club and their slick, disingenuous fundraising letters for furthering these misconceptions about nature. |

Duh...he (she more likely?) was probably looking for a nest site. They often use roads for such, as they are typically sunny and have lots of sand on them or adjacent to them. |
||||
diogenes, your post gave myself and my family a real chuckle today while sharing articles out loud.:) Good sense of humor ya got there! Thumbs up. |

3 If you read the whole article, you would get the idea that Lee had it in mind to let it turn into a meadow. With the destruction of habitat for Western Pond Turtles it is not such a bad idea to keep a small man made pond around for them. I don't know why I ever read these comments... they are so full of know it alls and negative goofballs. |

nideed, gustafgrapple has it right. I seriously don't think most of these posters read, they just inject their politics into anything they can, spitting vitriol at every opportunity.
Quail Hollow Ranch County Park is a little gem of a park, a working horse farm in the middle, and several miles of quite idyllic trails across a range of biomes, from meadows to a pygmy forest up on the sunset trail. The main building is the old Lane residence, of Sunset Magazine fame, the kitchen could well be considered the original Sunset kitchen. cruznative: what city employee? Lee Summers works for Santa Cruz COUNTY Parks, who own and operate QHR. As stated in the article and caption, everyone else helping is a volunteer, on their own time. |
