Does anyone remember the infant who died of a closed head injury, but it was found that he had 20 broken bones in addition? Ironically, a law professor commented that "Police are less afraid to arrest poor folk", and the grandfather of this baby was a wealthy Boulder architect... this was the last article to appear on the case, which totally dropped from sight...(no surprise!)... at least JonBenet got investigated a little more thoroughly, but I guess that's 'cause it was 'sexier'....
Officials await tests in Midyette case
Authorities not sure what caused infant's injuries
By Christine Reid, Camera Staff Writer
April 1, 2006
A month has passed since an 11-week-old Louisville boy died, and authorities still are unsure what caused the injuries that led to his death.
A day after Jason Midyette died, the Boulder County Coroner's Office announced the death was due to a closed-head injury. However, the manner in which Jason's death occurred — such as accidental or homicide — remains a mystery, pending results of forensic tests.
"All I can say is we have numerous tests being conducted," Boulder County Coroner Tom Faure said Friday. "I don't have direct control over (the tests), so I don't know the time frame.... But I expect it's still weeks before it is completed."
Jason died March 3, a week after his parents — Alex Midyette, 26, and Molly Midyette, 27 — took him to Boulder Community Hospital's Foothills Campus complaining that he was lethargic.
Medical tests revealed that Jason had 20 broken bones, including a fractured skull. One medical report by a radiologist stated: "Multiple fractures in various stages of healing, highly suspicious for nonaccidental trauma."
Alex and Molly Midyette declined to talk to police in the hospital waiting room the day they took their baby to the emergency room, and they have not spoken to investigators since.
Defense attorney Paul McCormick has told the Daily Camera that the parents did not mistreat their son, and that Jason was born prematurely and might have had underlying medical issues.
McCormick said Friday that the family is getting support from the community.
"The family is still grieving over the loss of Jason," McCormick said.
He would not comment on any plans to talk to police.
Alex Midyette is the son of Boulder architect J Nold Midyette, who owns a part of the east end of the Pearl Street Mall estimated to have a market value of about $80 million.
People with money have access to lawyers right away, and that makes a "huge difference" in how an investigation plays out, said Ann England, a University of Colorado law professor.
People who do not have money for private attorneys don't get representation until they are charged by the state, and at that point comments that have been made to police cannot be taken back, England said. Many times those things don't necessarily paint an accurate picture of the truth, she said.
"Police are less afraid to arrest poor folk," England said.

Hi,
I was in Molly and Alex's wedding and am a good friend of Molly. I can tell you that she loves her son and would have never allowed anything or anyone to hurt Jason. She was so excited when she found out she was pregnant. I hope the media does not villify her because she is a very kind woman who helped take care of my little girl while I was in law school. She spoiled my daughter and never even as much as raised her voice once to her in three years of continuous child care. I know Molly's heart is broken and she is suffering everyday for the loss of her son...

Sex & Wealth have nothing to do with the investigation of a child death. Unfortunately, it seems that the success of the family has caused the Boulder P.D. to shine a spotlight on a beautiful young couple during a very tragic event. Rich or poor, Molly & Alex loved Jason with every fiber of their beings. They NEVER hurt him and only loved him every single day of his short life. To say anything else is ludricrous. If any of you bothered to get to know them, rather than reading the riduculous slander and IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM that has taken place, you would know that the boulder P.D. and ADA need to get new hobbies rather than harassing Molly & Alex. They are wonderful people who only want to put their sone to rest & move on with their lives.

When will a determination of homicide be investigated? When will the public be informed?
By the way, the Ramsey case IS back in the news.

The question: Where did my letter go?
-- can be answered very easily:
--- IT WAS REMOVED!---
Question remains: WHO WAS INTERESTED TO HAVE YOUR LETTER REMOVED?

Answer to that one may be in the CONTENT of your letter.
The ONLY replies before YOUR ENTRY are VERY COMPLIMENTARY about the parents of the infant who died because of VERY VIOLENT ABUSE.
Did you write LESS complimentary letter?
Please, send me a copy directly to my e-mail.
My address is ZEHROVAK@JUNO.COM - I will reply to you with possible explanation!
If your "letter" had ANY essential facts, send also a copy to the reporter or reporters who were accused of "riduculous slander and IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM" on this page.
Whatever you said, could have been also considered "ludricrous" by the friends of Midyette family.
(the spelling in quotes is not mine - look above!)
Start by sending me a copy.
Thank you.

My thought on all this is how sick our country must be to be raising such a generation of sick. I realy think we need the two parent home, the simple family unit is being destroyed by the need and greed of money, family's are forced to put thier children in the care of others,( not realy being able to afford it,) most of them .I see a lot of angry children out there, and many parent to busy trying to make ends meet, cant see because of the smoke screens of Coop america. For the record, we need God back in this country, and not just the lip service people call belief. The Law is the Law. can we realy live without it ?

I believe you should run for office! You nailed it! I see the problem being that America is a slave to technology! it seems we all need our cell phones, laptops, MP3 players etc. for what just to watch it depreciate the momnet we leave the store? Same with all the latest in cars. I am not at all jealous of some who might have more than I, I know I have more that others, and am greatful for all my hard work and efforts. I know of a lady who's husband works at Costo and she three PT jobs with two young boys, and they cannot make ends meet. They are slaves to the tecnology they own! They try and keep up with the Jones's. And have lots of bills, might loose their house too! The kids are upset. Family units are destroyed Barbara, No more morals or respect, it's a sad thing! The law is written our Law enforcement needs to get with the program and enforce a bit more!

Here is written:
"If any of you bothered to get to know them,"
Well, I responded saying HOW I met the father of the infant who died of abuse; Alex Midyette.
I wrote how violent Alex Midyette was, and described my injuries that required reconstructive surgery.
On the day Alex Midyette injured me, he was not charged with any responsibility by the law enforcement.
As soon as I posted my reply to the above letter, my posting WAS REMOVED!
WHO IS PROTECTING ALEX MIDYETTE?
Was my head injury caused by the same party as "the closed head injury" that killed the infant?
Was the injury just "an accident" like the suspect in Jon Benet Ramsey case claims??
WHO was responsible to protect the infant?
Do YOU have the answer?

I think it is too bad that Vlado's entry was taken off the site. This forum has had complaints about a lack of fair journalism, yet appear to also be censuring here what is relevant and what needs to be told. Also, Random, I agree with conscience.

It looks like Alex, who babysat Jason at the time of his fatal injuries while Molly was working, had a violent temper. Pressure is mounting on Louisville police to charge the obvious suspect. Anyone with information that will help to move the cause of justice forward, please contact me at bardsleym@courttv.com

Sometimes being a loving parent results in you having to put down your peace pipe and turn away from narcotics. Removed from the residence was numerous glass blown pipes with marijuana in the ashtray. Now if it was Alex's drugs maybe the loving mommy should have put her foot down and said not in my house with my baby. A contact high isn't good for infants who's brains are developing at a rapid rate. Neither is an agitated parent who's child's cries are interferring with your next high. A ten week old baby can't roll over yet, much less crawl, how in the world is an infant injured to such an extent that would result in death at such a young age? I'm not suggesting the mother didn't love her child, but she definately failed at protecting her child.

That has to be the most ridiculous statement noted....love shouldn't hurt, much less kill. The baby is dead, APPEARANTLY these parents failed their child, duh! It's been noted by several experts who conducted his autopsy that his death is the result of a NON-ACCIDENTAL HOMICIDE. Haven't you ever noticed when someone is arrested for murder like oh say....Scott Peterson the reaction is shock "They were such a nice couple,He seemed so excited to be a father" It's ok Sarah and Talia, no one can fault you for being a good friend, but I wouldn't ask Alex to babysit anytime soon.
