I attended the meeting. The school board was in such dire straights to cut expenses, however they didn't bat an eye at flushing away $14,000 by making us make of 3 days of school. However, they did agree to make up 1 day, filing a waiver for 2. This just wastes 5,000. 5,000 to educate students who's minds will already be on summer break. It left the people in attendance with their jaws dropped. Where is the rational in all this? Why doesn't the media question these decisions?
are you kidding

Why don't you question the decisions yourself. Its not the media's responsibility. Do it in a public meeting. Make yourself known. If you don't find any value in educating kids for the full 180 days then maybe we should cancel the last week of school. Maybe the last month?? I'm sure starting in May the kids' minds will be on summer break so we might as well call it May 1 just in time for their minds to be coming off of Christmas break??
The fact is kids need to be in school and in my opinion more than what they are going now. I wonder why the rest of the world is out pacing us in education. They go longer than we do. Is simple. If we continue to lower expectations and make excuses why shouldn't go to school then we will all be speaking Chinese one day.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Libra

Instead of retreating into your own little world, get out there and spread some love and joy to all those around you. Be sure to pay close attention to the things that make others truly happy - often it can be the simplest of things. Libra is the most sociable sign in the Zodiac and you'll be in your element at the moment. You don't need to go overboard, though, and pick up everyone else's tab!
