Stop spreading hate, evanoff. How do you live with yourself? World Net Daily is a fear-mongering hate group that should be ashamed of themselves just like you should. And if they are your idea of responsible journalism, then you are clearly not an intelligent person.

Why is it that when you are opposed to anyone who does not feel like you on a particular subject they should not voice their opinion on said subject, but when you agree then its all good? When did this become the American way?

If you think this is anything but an attack on the gay community then you're either deluded or lack comprehension skills. And if you're okay with that attack, then I submit that you are not a nice person. And please, say what you want, but don't expect not to be challenged when you do. |

Hello brother, Well, I don't mind the genetic engineering as much as the multitude of additives that are put into our food. But getting back on topic, if you read the article then I think you would see my point that they are only using this as a way to spread fear and make a bogeyman out of the gay community. |

Once again an article from the right-wingers makes statements which is full of holes. So it's cool to be gay in tv, movies, public schools and newsrooms? I guess being called a 'fag' and getting beaten up in highschool is cool these days? Gay actors not being allowed to be "out" in Hollywood is definitely cool. The number of gay characters on tv since the Will & Grace days has gone from a few to almost zero is also "cool" I gather. The fact obvioulsy gay newscaster Anderson Cooper refuses to come out as 'gay' is cool too I'm guessing. Hmmm, and anal sex is more deadly then smoking? Last time I checked you couldn't put a rubber on a cigarette so the choice of how "deadly" anal sex is is up to the participant. btw, the "American Way" means having a freedom of speech which doesn't quite cover those who choose to huff and puff with such ignorant statements directed towards a minority and expect to get away with it. Of course small, narrow minded people are going to agree with this article. It's reminds me of the Anita Bryant days when all it took was a few words to rattle the cages of the religous right to start a movement. However in this day and age, where information is shared throughout the world at our fingertips, misinformation is no longer accepted as a way of life.

Just another hatemongering propaganda piece.
|
For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. |

Well said, No Fear.
I read an article with the same topic, but it wasn't anti-gay. Even without the spin, the underlying story is the same. There's a problem, and it needs to be addressed. We can't just turn a blind eye to it and pretend it doesn't exist for fear of being biased. |

That article I read was on Reuters. I'm not link savvy, but I'll try:

The reality is that even the news services have blown the story out of proportion, not to the extent of this hate-piece off of WorldNetDaily, but they went with the hyperbole of the original journal article without delving into the actual facts. Not even the CDC can agree with the direction this story was pushed and has released a statement addressing it... "Not so fast, according to the CDC. "These infections occur in men, women, adults, children, and persons of all races and sexual orientations," the government health organization reported. "Multidrug-resistant USA300 has emerged as an important source of disease among men with have sex with men in two geographically distinct communities," it added. But although "The strains of MRSA described in the recent Annals of Internal Medicine have mostly been identified in certain groups of men who have sex with men,[they] have also been found in some persons who are not MSM. It is important to note that the groups of MSM in which these isolates have been described are not representative of all MSM, so conclusions can not be drawn about the prevalence of these strains among all MSM." The CDC recommends that everyone cover wounds and keep them clean. Frequently wash your hands. Do not share towels, razors or other personal items. And dry clothes in a hot dryer." http://www.edgeboston.com/index.php... The problem is that misinformation and hyperbole travel far faster and farther than facts and reason. Which is why we can get a hate-filled rant such as this one based on less than complete information as found in your Reuters article and not hear the corrections that inevitably follow... |
Good post, Rick. I only just stepped down from my soapbox speech a few minutes ago, about how society needs to stop believing the fear mongers and get back to the facts. Well, OK - it wasn't a soapbox. I was sitting in my chair and typing but you get my meaning. "Commontators" is the perfect name for them, because they are, so, very common- in more ways than one. Let's get back to responsible journalism. |
