Irish president to visit Boston for famine anniversary
Higgins will attend an economic promotion lunch and meet with Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino ahead of events commemorating the Irish Famine of the mid-1800s. Ireland's leader, who has been in New York City for four days, will deliver a lecture Saturday at Faneuil Hall about the famine and its impact on his nation and Boston at Faneuil Hall.
