Unions had their place in the 50's with unsafe working conditions and such. Now they just protect the lazy and make everything more expensive, not to mention shut places down.

I went to work @ AG when I was 21...I had never worked anywhere else before because I wanted a "decent" job rather than asking "Ya want Fries wit dat?!"..lol..one of the first there...OK job...but as the years wore on, it just became a "Suck Me (Union) if you Want Your Job" kind of place. I will readily admit I missed a few days...got fired...got hired back...then I got fired again due to no fault of my own (long story..."FML screw up by my mom's doc, and a f-ed up Super that didn't like me to begin with..lol)Ol' 89 never even TRIED to help me get my job back...I was off for months(already working @ a job I liked better...(half the pay, but at least I ENJOYED it & didn't have to put up w/ all the gossip & crap)when they finally called and said, "We can get you back in there, just as "General Factory", and we CAN'T get your "back-pay"...?!
Of course they couldn't do that for someone who'd been there and worked their ass off for 13 yrs...but they sure could do it for a lazy-ass chick that got fired for the same damned thing over & over & OVER again (4 times, I counted..maybe more...in less years than I)..several more just like her...
I let them give me my job back..then I walked in the very next day and "RESIGNED"...:) I haven't looked back...best thing I ever did.

Wow, same old haters saying the same old things. I guess the hundreds uf thousands of manufactoring jobs lost was cause they ran away from the union. Thats weak. Unsafe work conditions not existing anymore! Thats a Rand Paul Quote. Do the top paying employers in Bardstown have a Union. The answer is yes.

Flowers has unsafe working conditions...one lady had her arm mangled on one machine, and on another line 2 guys on the same machine 2 out the 3 guys that run it have had Thier arms crushed..and the company's writes them up for it please...it's a joke to work There..but the economy the way it is, it's one of the only places I can work that puts food on the table. A union is desperately needed there..for safe working condisions, to help curve our incofident mangment staff, and help out the regular worker. It needs to be done. Here at flowers your supervisor is the judge, and the jury. It could be a machine malfunction and they write you up for it..even if you call the matiaince crew to fix it?? Explain that one?? And getting wrote over something that happens while your at lunch or on break. Not to metion the bun line in the winter goes months without two days off in row, let alone a weekend and us on the bread side gets a weekend every six weeks :( anti family kinda place and we are constantly told "it will get better" bullsh!t.The only ones that get taking care of are the ones that bend over and take it in the you know what for them..i dont mind working hard at all. For example, one of the ex superviors is a complete strung out pill head. Openly snorting pills on break, and getting so high on them he could barely talk..would cuss people up and fown on the production floor, while having peices of oxycotin fall outta his nose, was demoted then protomed in the same month. Not to metion the that he would bully people into making them lend him money for his pill addition, and forcing people to give him smokes or be fired.. This kinda person flowers protects?? Seriously?? CALLING a REP in the morning guys!! Don't worry help is on the WAY!! If hr and management won't fix the unsafe working condisions and the feeling of working for hilter and his SS troops, then we will fix it! Help Is on its way!!

I think we need one too, I hate feeling like for a small mistake, that I correct without a supervisor that I'm gonna be fired, even if it only takes a few seconds to fix. There is a few cool supervisors that appreahiate hard work, but honestly, over half are just sitting back with a merit sheet ready to check a box about your wrong doing and send you to the office. And I love when people call in, and you do 2 peoples job for the price of one. Who are going to call??

I think we need to call Osha. Osha will come in and investigate. I think they keep the reporters name anonymous to protect us. I

It's as simple as this. If you don't want your hand mangled in a machine, don't stick your hand in it. And as far as supervisors waiting to write people up for "little mistakes" get over it. Your working with food. A "little mistake" could contaminate a lot of product. A union is just for all the lazy idiots that want to get by with not doing their job

No the union isn't for lazy ppl,its for all the working ppl.Read all thru this forum.Osha can help as a safety precaution.Seems to me that as employees of Flowers Bakery you should have a voice in the work place along with no favortism.if you need help at this plant???? call the UFCW AND ASK FOR THE ORGANIZING DEPARTMENT. EXT 622 OR 130.They will call you back asap.
