Someone has informed me that this family doesn't have a burial plan or the funds for a funeral. How many of you would be willing to help this family pay for the Curtis man's funeral? Let's help this family in a time of need. Please contact Booneville Funeral Home and let's get the donations started. Right or wrong, he deserves to have a funeral.

While I am very sympathetic for this family's loss, let's not make Mr. Curtis a hero. His death was ultimately caused by his own bad decisions. Remember, the police were there because they had been called to deal with him. Also, the taxpayers will most likely pay for his burial as they always do when the family is unable to pay.

Just because someone makes bad decisions is no reason at all for them to be dead. I can understand some of the comments on here but when people say this man got what he deserved is so wrong. He deserves to have a ticket or have to pay a fine NOT TO BE IN THE GROUND!!!!!!! Some people are so heartless and you will pay for being so judgmental!!!! And sorry but there were no tax payers money used when my 18 day old nephew passed away and my family didn't have the money!!!!! Ugh I just can't stand some people!!!!

Your first sentence is interesting to me. I agree that bad decisions shouldn't get you killed, but the fact of the matter is - they do. Think about drunk driving. Lots of really good people have got behind the wheel of a car drunk. Some have died. And some have killed others. So - bad decisions can get you killed. A lifetime of drinking and drugging and resisting lawful authority can also get you killed. Sad - but true. We all probably know someone whose lifestyle lead to their death. Sometimes it is just more direct than other times.

So you think that his family, his young children should have to pay for their father's mistakes????? Don't help if you don't want to! As far as taking food trays and etc... to other needy people, I do that too. I just know that if the man has lived a life addicted to drugs or whatever problems he may have had, that this has more than likely left his young children without anything. I also just think it would be the right thing to do. Again, if you disagree and want to start another topic to help others, go for it!!!! And for all the others, I'm not trying to make him a hero. It's his children and wife that will end up paying if others don't help. Do you really think they have the funds to bury him?

I thinks it's great people are willing to help with this. And I would if I could, but getting on here and bashing this man and his family is despicable. Every family has issues, but they are no one's business. I know this is Booneville and you are all a bunch of nosey a-holes but the least you could do is show a little respect for the victim and family. I can promise you trash talkers wouldn't have the balls to say any of that shit to his sons face. But you hide behind your screen name and say this stuff. I pray the family gets through this tough time and I pray that none of you ever have to go through this.

I will gladly give what little bit I can spare to help the family. That said, I have been clear that based on what I know - I believe the officer was forced to do what he did. That, however, doesn't leave me with the notion that his family shouldn't be helped. If he was killed because he was driving drunk (not that he did - just an example of bad decisions) I would help if I could. And I know the folks at Booneville Funeral Home. Mr. Duncan has always worked with people who need help. Or at least I know some folks who needed help and he did what he could to make it as easy on them as possible. If Mr. Curtiss left young children - they will receive a monthly check until they are 18. And if the family has no funds, the funeral home can ask for $ from the board of supervisors - it isn't much - less than a $1,000.00, but there are funds for that. NOW - after saying all of that - if the family has a lawyer who is looking to sue the city - I might feel differently about helping. To be honest - I couldn't give more than $10 or $15 dollars to help. If they can hire a lawyer to sue the city - I might not be as willing to give what little I have!!

I read this link thinking it was intended to help a grieving family, but some of you have been down right heartless & ugly! You also seem to have the preconceived notion that this family is, for lack of better wording, lazy white trash. THEY ARE NOT!!! As a matter of fact, they are far from it! Both David & Cheryl worked their fingers to the bone to provide for their boys & their boys did not go without anything, including love that so many of you on here are severly lacking. I worked with Cheryl for years. She never missed a day of work, even when she was sick or her hands were so swollen she could barely move them. Their boys were always fed, clean & dressed nicely. Her house was always emmaculate even with a houseful of kids always there; some hers, some not, but it didn't matter who they belonged to, she fed them & was good to them just the same. I guess that's why most of the kids her boys' ages all call her "Mama Cheryl". And as far as their children go, you could not ask for more handsome & polite young men. Drew served our country as a Marine & Jesse wanted to, but it upset his mother so badly, he changed his plan to keep her from worry. Does that sound like white trash to you? As far as David goes, he was a sweetheart who loved his wife & boys, but just like the rest of us, he was no saint. I believe Jesus is the only one who falls into that category. And for the record, I had much rather be thrown into a ditch with David Curtiss when I die than share an elaborate funeral home with the heartless & ugly person who made that statement.
