Detroit police say MSU student struck by car, dragged to death

A 19-year-old Michigan State University student who had just watched the Red Wings defeat the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena on Thursday night was hit and dragged more than a quarter-mile under a car and killed, police said.

It happens many times that someone will run into the street and get hit and it would be their fault. Then the driver panics and takes off and he's then a felon. Had he stopped and reported, he might walk away free or even be praised if he could help the individual.
I don't know what the circumstances were here, but a human can survive a pretty serious hit with a vehicle if they are not then also run over and dragged around town.
