Nowhere in the ad for the $29.95 Service Magic Offer does it say you are obligated to keep up "your side of the deal", as Mr. Genie told us to do, and pay hundreds going forward since they come out and service the unit and tell you all the thousands you need to pay to get in proper order....and when we refused, we were told we didn't keep up our end of the deal advertised AND at least should sign up for maintenance contract, again for hundreds. We wanted the $29.95 special...end of story. Ridiculous business practices and we will not use them ever again...and will tell everyone we know not to get confused by the false advertising. They ended up leaving in a huff AND didn't charge us but let's see...they took everything apart and didn't even clean the fan inside!!! So yes, you did the right thing...you didn't charge us for..nothing but the rude sales pitch was the worst I've experienced in years. Take some sales classes and learn how to treat people so they want to do business with you...and also take some advertising classes on honest and productive marketing.

The owner of this company must be nothing more than an opportunist and a common con man if his techs act this way. They proposed no I am sorry said "YOU NEED" 1500 dollars worth of more work on your system after a 3000 dollar job on my system just 6 months prior. I got a second opinion on the second round of work they proposed and it was 1/3 the cost and the new company had never even heard of 50% of what they were proposing and the repairs that were needed would have easily been spotted by a tech who had a clue 6 months ago. In my new companies opinion they either missed it or they just let it sit and get worse so the job would be more expensive later. The new company said they flat out made up things on the list of problems or the tech was just a moron. The new company found and fixed the problem at a cost of 80 dollars where Air Genie was going to charge 300 dollars just to look for the problem and 250 to fix. Lets compare 550 dollars vs 80 dollars. I called 3x for an explanation giving the company the benefot to explain and NEVER got a call back. It is actually two months and I am still waiting for a call!!! They never even called to see if we wanted them to complete the job they just left it hanging for two months!!!
In my opinion if air genie gives you a quote for your own good get a second quote. IT WILL BE 50% LESS OR MORE!!!!
I KNOW WHAT KIND OF A BUSINESSMAN YOU REALLY ARE NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Two guys just left here "suggesting" a couple thousand dollars worth of work. They were here just over 2 1/2 hours. They did about 40 minutes worth of work. The rest of the time they were on cell phones outside or in their trucks. Really all I saw them do was wash wash outside of unit and put in some tabs in the drip pan. Waste of time. Will get another company and not tell them Air Genie was here. Just to compare the difference.

Technician came to house for a "promotional check up but told my wife we needed a leak test it would cost $249. She said she would need to talk to me first. He became irritated, gave her a list of things we needed that cost over $3000. He also stated that if we didn't do anything, our A/C might quit working. 4 hours after he left the A/C quit working. It was working fine before he arrived at the house. We called another co. and they found that the previous tech. had purposely ruined a Schrader valve which caused the refrigerant to leak. Be wary of this company

Same issues as above.
Parents (retired Snowbirds) had them out for the service "special" they run radio spots for.
Tech (?) did some cleaning and look see work and started in with telling them all the dangerous and immediate
Need repair conditions they had and that he'd need $800 to make immediate corrections and had to order parts and supplies for the additional $1500 in repairs and changes he insisted were needed. Parents indicated they wanted a written proposal for review and would not sign any contracts. The tech was offended they questioned or wanted to review his recommendations or pricing and gave them with bill for work ( cleaning and inspection) claiming it had to be paid on spot, and some illegible scratch with cost estimate of aprox $2400.
We had a different AC contractor come out , he referred to them as "scare genie" and indicated what their techs and radio spots do is intended to get a foot in , and then try to panic convince you your AC is in dire need of $$$ervices and their maintenance plan'
Their "techs" are more or less salesmen trying to pressure folks into buying uneeded "rustproofing and ceiling wax"
Advise avoiding them and their "fantastic service deal" and use a reputable local AC contractor - we found Bruce Les AC and he does
good work at a fair price.

It is usually wise to check with the Better Business Bureau before having anyone to your house to work on anything important to you.

Saw air genie at the home show and had them install a new a/c unit. Talked me into a very expensive 16seer unit. Love the unit bills are low. However it took them 15 or16 trips-i lost count ro get the install right. One tech just left without checking the unit and nothing was working. Had to drive back from naples to pc the same day. They also charged me for surge protectors that were never installed. The biggest joke is the thermostat. The batteries die every 2 months and everything stops working. Next time I'll call boyd brothers

My father lives on his own - was told they would "service" his unit for a 1x low price of $29.95. Got suckered into the UV bulb crap. Next they suggested a maintenance agreement - every 6 months they will come and check it out. 22 months later they came back. Another $248. Guy was out there today - need a compressor. But u r still under warranty - ONLY $1900 to install. My father called me while the tech was there - i said no, we will call u next week. Tech says, how bout we just resign for the maintenance agreemnt and you send me a check on Friday.??? WHAT??? Actually got indignant with me on the phone. Borderline rude. Told my father to ask him to leave. Guy said to my father, wow, my boss will b mad at me cuz i didn't close the deal! OMG! CAlled my people today and they r going to go up and check it out. STAY AWAY FROM AIR JERKS!

Air Genie performs a complete inspection on every call. This normally results in us finding something that will give you challenges between semi-annual tune-ups. When we find something, we write it down. During our inspection if we find anything else wrong we write that down too. At the end of our tune-up we share our findings in a "most important" to "least important" fashion. We sometimes receive grief for doing so.
Most air conditioners we see for the first time have deficient parts or biological growth in them. We treat both of these problems seriously. It is also worth mentioning that air conditioners and air conditioning parts wear out.
Some people react negatively to bad news. We do our best to help our customers, neighbors and friends.
Air Genie services 5,000+ homes per year.
Our online complaints now stand at .00093% for the last 3 years. Thats less than 1 in 1,000 customers served. We're pretty proud of that!

STAY AWAY!!!!! This guy has a total racket going. Two times they have been out to my place, and two times I have been presented with a list of things that need to be done- in 3 distinct categories. Must haves-$1,000, should have $2,500, and nice to have -$5,000.
I was a sucker the first time and paid $1,000 for the must haves and low and behold 6 months later there was a new list of must haves for $1,000.
Oh and by the way, both times I asked the technician to follow up on some questions regarding insurance coverage I had, and I have never gotten a return call.
I am forwarding a more detailed letter to the BBB who can hopefully stop this charade

How can you spend money on gas,insurance,taxes,state and local fees,wages,uniforms,truck expenses,office fees,advertising and make a profit driving to your home then spending an hour on a maintenance then spending time educating the homeowner for 29.95?Do the math a light-bulb might turn on.
