Good for the Court. The right decision indeed.

They gave the Govenor his CAT tax ruling last week, and then this came down today.

Ted Strickland has been faced with a terrible economic climate. However, he has turned to the wrong sources for money. Gambling has been solidly turned down in Ohio for years. Democrats in Ohio have no respect for voters wishes either on gambling or Obamas Health Care push.

ACTIVIST POLITICAL SHILLS: The millions of dollars spent to buy the state supreme court is certainly paying off for the republicans. Control the courts and you can make your own laws.

I'm sure they will just cut funding for schools - remember the Supreme Court ruled the way Ohio funds schools to be unconstitutional years ago - and they have ignored that for years - so cutting more will just be ignored as well.

I wish the elected officials would enforce the Supreme Court's earlier ruling and FINALLY fund the schools.

ILOVEGC if you think any of the slots money was going to the schools you are living in a dream state. The money was going to the general fund.
Ask GC Mayor why he is so anxious to help Beulah Park with upgrades they need to roads etc rather then continue with the Town Center project. What's in it for the Mayor? Then you will see just how deep the local corruption goes in Grove City with the slots & gambling and the good olde boyz club. Someone's pockets were getting fatter.

Maybe the state could take some of the money already paid by the racetracks and buy some leadership!!

Good grief!

Gov.Ted should call an emergency session.....replace the last budget bill with one that does NOT include gambling, but is paid for by a temporary sales tax increase of 1cent for 3 years......They would be unpopular, but respected for doing what is necessary.....and probably win the next elections

They also "put the screws" to millions of disadvantaged Ohioans who will see essential state services cut as a result of the budget cuts this ruling may lead to. I just don't know where else the state can cut money without having a serious impact on quality of life here. Nobody wants to live in a state where you have to cart your own trash out of state parks, or where developmentally disabled people roam the streets because the state can't afford to take care of them, or where you can't go to a library on the weekend because funding cuts forced them to reduce their hours.

I believe many of those who would drop their money in slot machines in order to "strike it rich" are the same ones who don't see the importance of education to begin with. It shows in their support of gambling as the solution to anything.

The state of North Carolina, from which I recently moved, called their lottery the "Education Lottery." Only the uneducated would fall for that.

It's going to be a sad day if Issue 3 passes. Ohio residents are simply blind to the fact that the issue 3 backers are probably behind this effort to get rid of the race track slots that would pay a 50% tax rate so they can get their casinos passed that only pay 33%. They're robbing the state blind and fooling the Ohio residents all the way to the bank. In the meantime, we will end up paying higher taxes and cutting programs. Isn't that something. They figure out a way to get us to pay higher taxes so they can be super rich. Wake up Ohio!

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Cancer

You'll be happiest when you're with people who make you feel loved and cherished. You'll bend over backwards to keep them sweet, and will concede arguments and disputes for the sake of peace. Try not to make it peace at any price because that could be setting up problems with people who will then try to take advantage of your good nature. Co-operation is one thing, being a doormat is quite different.
